No, I haven’t forgotten about this chap. I’ve put the last finishing touches to my Ultramarines Captain in Terminator Armour while I was assembling and priming my Skathach Wraithlord, and today I can proudly present you the result. Check out more angles after the jump.
Painting this model was a real treat, and getting back to do a model for my longest ongoing collection, Ultramarines, was really satisfying. In 2017, I definitely want to spend more time on my boys in blue.
The model has a suitable amount of detail for a character model, but doesn’t feel overcrowded. This makes the design very elegant in my opinion. Some of the recent models have a stunning level of detail, such as the new Thousand Sons, but I can’t help to think about the absurd amount of time I would need to sink into them.

Cheers. It's a custom blend of light brown, dark brown and black fibres. Got them separately from ebay.

Excellent as always Stahly! How would Imperial Blue from VGC compare to Mordian Blue? It looks similar to your photos but lighting is a hard thing to judge.
Quite different. Imperial Blue is darker and more vibrant, while Mordian Blue is more of a flat blue. Macragge Blue is pretty similar to Mordian Blue, but slightly lighter. Macragge Blue with a bit of Kantor Blue should do the trick. This is what I will do once I depleted my reserve of Mordian Blue.

My favourite Space Marine is the new Terminator Chaplain from the Collectors Edition. It's too bad that it is quasi "limited" and you normally have to pay lots of money for it. I had the chance to get it for less then 80€(what is still a lot).
What colors do you use for the cloak (both sides)?
Love it, really crisp and clean and looks great! Totally agree with you about the detail. Models like this really show that less can be more. Too often there's just too much going on on these characters.
