I only had to paint five of these, but I really enjoyed working on them. The models themselves are quite fragile like a lot of the Dark Eldar models but really cool. Anyway, in my next post, I will show some Thousand Sons models. What do you think of the Scourges?

I love the gritty style of ThirdEyeNuke. I think it brings a great character to miniatures, especially considering the wars they are fighting in. Hope to try it myself when I get some time.

Who pays money for this? No detail definition whatsoever throught highlighting and especially shading/lining, airbrush work looks dirty with all those dry paint particles, even the rim of the base doesn't look smooth. I'm probably a bit harsh but come on, at least show some effort in doing the sculpts justice.
Sorry you dont like my work. I guess its down to personal taste. But I must being doing something right seeing that Im quite popular as a commission painter and have my work regularly shown on various miniature sites.
You do great work. I really like how you have your own unique style and your models definitely stand out. They can be quite striking, especially the larger pieces. Everyone keeps describing it as "gritty" and it really helps set the tone for the grimdark narrative that 40k is known for. Although I am a fan of neat lines and crisp detail, I am drawn too your work because of how different and artistic it is. I think you more than do the sculpts justice, you bring them to life in a way that nobody else I've seen does. Keep it up!

Original anon here, I appreciate your response. Yes, taste always plays a part, but, in my opinion, there's a difference between well painted miniatures and not so well painted ones. GW put fine paintjobs on boxes for a reason. Surely they're not perfect, but if someone can replicate them – it is a clear indicator that the artist has a particular set of skills under their belt. I'm just not sure you're that artist, hence why I decided to comment. Even looking at your older works there's no real improvement, for which everyone should strive and put hard work in. All models look sort of comfort-zone painted – grim, sloppy basecoats (which are often smudged out of borders) without shadows and highlights, a lot of minor details are often just lazily missed completely with tons of battle damage added to mask it.
I understand commisions often require fast and easy painting, and not everyone has a set of eyes to see what looks good and what isn't. I'm not here to insult, just an observation of a somewhat experienced fellow miniature painter. With works from Garfy, for example, who makes sure every recess and edge is well-defined, appearing on the same blog – the contrast in actual hours of effort put in looks rather stark to me.
Really cool, I'm looking into getting their wings to make them into Eldar Swooping hawks!!! How did you do the feathers they actually fit my armies color!
Hey Stephen, I think it was GW Naggaroth Night airbrushed and then Vallejo Violet again airbrushed. I gave them a wash of GW purple and then drybrushed with the same colour adding a lighter purple and building this up to the corners till it was bright in contrast to the rest of the wings.
I love the whole army – exactly what I wanted, but even better than I expected. The scourges are among my favourite models. Cheers, Colin.
