Showcase: Cadian mobile command tank & Rough Rider Dirt Bike kitbashes
I was super excited to see the releases of the new guard vehicles. I am particularly keen to get hold of the Hippogriff AFV and Centaur RSV vehicles. I have worked hard over the past few years to grow my Cadian Astra Militarum force and paint it up to a reasonable standard. The force was actually inspired by World War II armoured mechanised divisions. So, I’m very much looking forward to expanding it with these new options.
Showcase: Craftworld Iybraesil Infinity’s Lament
When I saw this year’s Warhammer+ miniatures, as a long-time Aeldari fan I immediately knew I had to have Infinity’s Lament. Eldar collectors had to endure many years waiting for reinforcements, so I couldn’t let this wonderful little diorama vignette pass me by. In this post I’m showing you my version, painted in the turquoise of Craftworld Iybraesil.
Showcase: Marneus Calgar & Victrix Guard (inc. painting guide)
Hi everyone, I’ve just finished work on the mighty Marneus Calgar and his stalwart Victrix Guard and in this post, I’d like to explain to you the approach and the paints used to paint my Ultramarines.
Showcase: Nighthaunt Grimghast Reapers
On my quest to paint a playable Nighthaunt Spearhead this year, I could cross another unit off the list: here come my Grimghast Reapers, 10 in number. Several years ago I painted the first half, and now five more models join my spectral hosts. This presented me with some challenges. Which ones, you’ll find out in this post.
Showcase: Skaven Master Moulder
I’m expanding my Skaven collection one warpstone-tainted creation at a time. Today I’m presenting my Master Moulder, painted using a combination of zenithal priming, Speedpaints, and Contrast paints with additional highlights. This twisted rat-surgeon-butcher yes-yes will eventually join my growing Skaven force for Warcry and beyond. In this post you’ll find plenty of photos plus details on how I achieved the grotesque skin tones and weathered brass effects.
Showcase: Decimator Daemon Engine & Space Wolves Contemptor
Hi folks, I’m back again with some cool models for your viewing pleasure. I’ve always enjoyed the Warhammer 40k Forge World kits, and sadly, with the way things are today, these more specialist and complex kits are far less common and seldom seen on the tabletop. However, I do believe you can still use them as “Legends”, treat them as “counts as”, or, if you’re a filthy heretic like me, you can simply create your own rules (EVIL LAUGH!!!)-
Showcase: Gundam RX-78-2 HGUC Ecopla black version
Today, for a change, we have not Warhammer but a new Gundam model from my collection: the iconic RX-78-2 in High Grade, in the black Ecopla version. I’ve enhanced this kit with weathering effects and hand-painted glow effects. How I did this, I’ll show you in this post.
Showcase: Sons of Horus MkIII Despoiler Squad
Today I’m presenting my Sons of Horus Despoiler Squad. MkIII “Iron Armour” Legionaries meet various upgrade sets and kitbashes for maximum Cthonian flavour. Freshly painted, but unfortunately not quite compatible with the current edition. How that happened, you’ll find out in this post, plus plenty of pictures.
Showcase: Miniatures of the year 2025 (painted by the Tale of Painters crew)
The best Warhammer miniatures of 2025 were chosen by you on Warhammer Community. Here on Tale of Painters we were also busy last year and painted quite a few of the chosen miniatures, putting our own unique stamp on them. We’re presenting you which ones in this showcase post.
Best of: Dunk’s recap of 2025 and hobby resolutions for 2026
As the year comes to an end, it’s nice to look back and reflect on the progress made. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing my thoughts on the hobby here on Tale of Painters, along with the models I’ve completed throughout the year. Before I go any further, I’d like to raise a glass to my good friends Garfy and Stahly, who have been so positive and encouraging. I can’t thank you both enough for your friendship and guidance as I continue to develop as a painter. And another cheeky toast to all our readers who have been painting along with us. Cheers to you all!
