I picked the Dark Angels Deathwing Knights up the same time as I bought the Nephilim and a few other of the new models. And have almost finished working on all of them. The Deathwing Knights along with the Nephilim are definitely my favorites. I found these guys quite challenging as I tend to paint usually in darker colors,but found working on the paler color of the armour quite refreshing. The only thing about the models that I didn’t like was that the instructions on how to put them together was a little confusing as none of it was numbered. But that’s me being picky.Other than that I like them a lot and enjoyed painting them. What do you think? If you have any questions ask away.

I've found GW's tendancy to number sprues VERY helpful recently, shame they've not done it for this kit. Hope it doesn't indicate a shift away from assisting old duffers like me building kits like this on a one off basis.

Hey all, Thanks for the feedback. For the basic basecoat on the Knights I airbrushed vallejo Light brown, followed by Vallejo Light brown sprayed downwards at a 45 degree angle as to not completely cover the model. And then I airbrushed Game color Bone white again at a downwards angle. The model was then airbrushed with varnish and once dry I applied a wash of burnt umber oil paint. Once this had dried I used mineral spirit with a sponge to remove the majority of the oil so that you can see the original basecoat below. After this I airbrushed a matt varnish to seal the work so far. That's pretty much the basics how I got the color for the armour to begin work on. Hope that helps to some effect.

Yep I totally thought "those must be by TEN" 🙂 I love the models (my favorite from the new batch of DA stuff) and you've done a great job on them. I agree completely about the instructions, and had to pull stuff apart a couple of times (esp those short/bent arm sections that all look the same). Fail, GW! If any kit needed numbered instructions it's this kit!

These models are damn cool! First time I've actually seen them. Loving the colour scheme man, really muted which works really well in keeping them looking 'real'. Great work!

I love the way how you painted the armour, could you explain how you got this effect? stripped the paint from my DW termies for the second time as I just can't get a decent look on them.

These Knights look great. One of the things I like about Tale Of Painters is that it is very easy to tell who has painted what as you guys have very defined paint styles.
