8.0

The Army Painter just released three new paint sets specifically for historical miniature painters – and they claim to offer historically accurate colours developed in collaboration with a respected military historian. Review: The perfect match(es) for 90s Goblin Green

Montage of a pot of Citadel Colour Goblin Green from the 90s in front of various green Warhammer hobby paints

But replicating the exact shade of classic Goblin Green seems surprisingly difficult. In this video, I test and rank similar green paints from over 14 old and new paint brands. Let’s determine once and for all which modern paint is the perfect match for the classic Goblin Green of the 90s.

Review: Scale 75 Scalecolor, Fantasy & Games, Metal’n’Alchemy

Six paint bottles from Scale 75 lined up on a concrete background with pink light, photographed for a review. From left to right: Three bottles of red from Scalecolor, two bottles of red from the Fantasy & Games range, and one metallic red paint from Metal'n'Alchemy.
7.0

Why does no one talk about Scale 75 anymore? In the 2010s, Scalecolor enjoyed great popularity, especially among pro-level painters. However, all I hear from Scale lately is one Kickstarter after another to stay afloat. I wonder if Scale 75 can keep up with all the newer paint ranges and the advancements they brought in covering power and formulation? To answer this question, I’m testing the entire Scalecolor, Fantasy & Games, and Metal’n’Alchemy ranges from the perspective of today in this video.

Seven bottles of Ionic Smart Colors lined up on a concrete background with pink light, photographed for a review of the Ionic Smart Colors range
8.5

In recent years, we’ve seen a surge of new and impressive paint ranges, each claiming to outdo its competitors. This leaves me wondering: can acrylic paints for modelling improve further, or have we hit the ceiling? Big Child Creative also pondered this question, and their answer is their new Ionic Smart Paint, which you may have already seen in videos by Ninjon and Vince Venturella with their development name “Atom Smart Paints”. For this review, I tested the entire range with all 180 colours to explore whether Ionic represents the next evolutionary leap in miniature painting and the role that the Citadel Colour range of the 2000s plays in all of this.
