I am honoured to join the Tale of Painters as a contributor, and what better fitting way to do so than with the largest GW/FW model going… I welcome you to the Warlord Titan!
This is a YouTube video I made of the grand unveiling of the model, from first tape rip to last component showing what comes in the box. Are you ready for resin goodness?!
OK I apologise for the lack of awesomeness of the video up front! But trying to video an un-boxing of something of this magnitude is pretty difficult to light, and ensure you, the viewer, can actually see what you really want to see. So as such its done on my GoPro Hero 4 Black, clamped to the side of my daylight lamp arm, on my dining table.
Over the coming months (and I am under no illusion that it will be months as I have a demanding job to fit in around this) I’ll be sharing photos and maybe more videos of progress of this mammoth project exclusively here at Tale of Painters. So watch this space for regular updates as he begins to take shape.
I know from experience that the Reaver took me around 3 months, as did the Warhound, so this could be a long long project!
The paint scheme will be that of the Legio Astorum – aka the “Warp Runners”, following on from my existing Knights and Titans.
I'm glad you remember them! I will be back to the Eldar one day. Once I finish my Knights, warlord and Skit/Mech the yellow paint could well be back on to the Iyanden once more. Watch this space!
Nick, Good to see you on the Blog!!!! Woohoo…one of my favorite Eldar Blogger painters around. Please tell me you are going to paint Eldar too!!!!
Cheers,
Matt
Thanks all. Hope the video was not too bad. It was my first ever one! More updates to follow…
Albert – the FW instructions give a guideline on the build and pose of the legs. They advise not to do anything too extreme with them else the pistons will be a mess. So you can basically have a leg striding forwards or both parallel. Thats pretty much it, but to be honest, given the weight up top, you need a sturdy base platform to work with. Other than the head there is no internal detail this time round compared to the Reaver or Warhound variants. I suspect this is to allow the model to be assembled without compromise by having to make rooms inside for tech priests and consoles etc. Plus to be able to see inside, you need to make the top very cleverly to be removable, The Reaver and Warhounds have a single top plate that can easily be removed. My Reaver also has a removable front thats easy to show that internal detailing. That will save me a tonne of time on the plus side though to paint all that interior up!
Thanks! it's a pity there is no detailed interior but I see how complex that would be. I'm looking forward to the next update!
This is fucking impressive !
I must admit, i am a resin junkie !!!
Can't wait to see you assemble the damn thing 8-D
Cool man! Might get one when i finish my degree.
Damn, still haven’t gotten one… :/
Very very very nice video =)
Interesting to see whats inside the box one just have wage dreams of owing 🙂

Thanks for the unboxing video, very interesting. I was curious as to whether there is any instruction from FW on how to assemble the torso and legs – I presume they don't expect people to glue all of the titan?
Also, is there a detailed interior or it's just the head? thanks!
Believe it or not she was relatively supportive and even offered a contribution! She did, after all, buy the Phantom for me for my wedding gift! But hey you only turn 40 once, so it was a great present to myself!
Haha yup there are some very big parts to this kit. I hope I did not dent the table, else my wife will kill me!
I'm shocked she didn't kill you for getting the kit in the first place
I like how this is so big, each part you pull out thunks on the table like you tipped a metal dreadnaught over.
