Garfy recently reviewed the excellent Jucoci Carry Cases with Light and one of the things that popped up was you can’t fit your rulebooks inside the Medium Carry Case, in today’s review Garfy will check out the supplementary backpack and give you his feedback.

Jucoci Wargame Miniatures Larger Size Backpack

Carrying your miniatures to your next wargame is one thing, but what about your dice, tape measures and rulebooks? Jucoci have a solution for that as well. Whilst this backpack might look like it fits on the back of a fast food delivery moped, it’s actually designed to carry the Jucoci Large Case.

The Jucoci Large Backpack is made from a hard wearing canvas material. The walls of the bag are double lined with padding inbetween and features a durable edging in red that is single lined stitched. Overall it feels incredibly robust, which it needs to be because you’ll be lugging around 5KG of weight. It has a zipped front panel and a zipped top panel and the flap of the lid has a huge piece of velcro measuring 39cm long x 10cm high. That huge piece of velcro holds everything together and takes any stresses away from the zips.

Unzipping the front panel gives complete access to your Jucoci Large Case’s door, so you don’t even have to remove the case from the bag. The bag features a carry handle on top, two padded, adjustable shoulder straps, two padded areas on the back for your shoulder blades and a padded area for your lower back. It’s not the most uncomfortable backpack, but I wouldn’t want to wear it for long. Jucoci have done a good job making a 5kg cube as comfortable as possible with all the padding.

The Jucoci Large bag has a total of five pockets with velcro flaps. Only a single pocket is big enough to hold a 12.9″ iPad Pro, Core Rule Book or Codex/Battletome. This is a bit of a shame because I would want to take all three with me (as previously mentioned you can fit a book in the large trays). As you can see from above the top pockets on either side aren’t deep enough to house a book and instead of giving you a second pocket for books, they choose to split the pocket into two, tall narrow pockets. Personally I would prefer a second army book pocket and split on of the top pockets in two for dice/cards

It looks like the Medium Sized Backpack on their website (I’m reviewing the large) has two pockets for rulebooks. So that’s good!

Cost

These backpacks are available in medium and large on Amazon or www.jucoci.com.

  • The Jucoci Large Backpack has as RRP of £45.99 / €65.99 / $39.99
  • The Jucoci Medium Backpack has an RRP of £45.99 / €40.12 / $39.99

Please note, the Jucoci website is only in $USD. I’ve spoken to Jucoci and they said they’re planning to add other currencies to their website in the future. It is possible to check out in USD and have them delivered to a country that isn’t the US. Or just use Amazon.

Conclusion?

This is reasonably priced and the build quality is very good. They haven’t cut corners and they’ve used strong materials, padding etc. I can see the benefits of this when I travel to Badmoon Café on the London Tube, carrying it on my back and keeping my hands free is very useful. If I’m driving to a mate’s house in my car, then it’s not so necessary, so it really depends on your needs.
