Mortals, bask in the glory of the Phoenician’s perfect form, now captured in flawless plastic. In this review, we’re taking a look at the Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh, and Flawless Blades kits. Feast your senses on high-res sprue images as well as a list of all the build options.

The Emperor’s Children releases will be available for pre-order starting Saturday, 12 April 2025. The pre-order period lasts two weeks, with the official release date set for 26 April 2025.
Here on Tale of Painters, we’ve already reviewed the Noise Marines, Infractors/Tormentors, and Lord Exultant kits as part of the army box (click here for more). In this two-part review, we’re taking a look at Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh, and the Palatine Blades. Next week, Lucius the Eternal and the Lord Kakophonist will follow.
Plastic Fulgrim unveiled
Fulgrim, in his new immaculate plastic form as Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh, comes in a box with two large sprues, a 130 mm round base, and assembly instructions. The imposing model features the following assembly options:
- 5 head options: 4 faces with different expressions (delighted, surprised, neutral, and angry) as well as a helmet-like mask
- Otherwise, there are no further build options such as alternative weapons or poses.

Fulgrim’s sculpt was unveiled last Christmas. Since then, it has been compared and controversially discussed in the community with the still relatively new Fulgrim Transfigured from the Horus Heresy range. I think both models have their qualities. The resin model from Forge World is very expansive and benefits from fine details, while the new plastic model from the main studio is significantly easier to assemble, has a more compact silhouette, and is cheaper. The textures used on the serpentine body fit well with the style of Slaanesh Daemon models, and Fulgrim’s armour shows design cues from the new Emperor’s Children 40k miniatures. For me, both Fulgrims fit coherently into their respective setting.
Flawless Blades model review
The Flawless Blades contain three small sprues, with which three models can be built on 40mm bases, as well as the new Emperor’s Children transfer sheet. Each of the three bodies is compatible with several pairs of arms and heads:
- Flawless Blade 1 has 2 poses: he can be equipped with either a right arm wielding a large blissblade and a left arm with an open hand, or a pair of arms each bearing two smaller blissblades. Additionally, there are three head options: an elongated bare head culminating in the point of the Slaanesh symbol, a bare head with facial modifications, and a helmet adorned with twisted horns.
- Flawless Blade 2 has 3 poses: he can be equipped with either a right arm wielding a large blissblade and a left arm with an open hand, or one of two pairs of arms each bearing two smaller blissblades in different poses. There are three head options: an elongated head with long hair, a head wearing a mask, and a helmet with a Slaanesh-shaped point.
- Flawless Blade 3 has 3 poses: he can be equipped with either a left arm thrusting a large blissblade and a right arm with an open hand, an arm pair holding a large blissblade (with a matching head with a long tongue licking over the blade), or or a pair of arms each bearing two smaller blissblades. There are three head options: the mentioned head with the longue tongue, a bare head with facial modifications and flowing hair, and a bare head with a topknot.
- Additionally, there are 3 right shoulder pauldrons included, 3 left plain shoulder pauldrons, 3 left shoulder pauldrons bearing the Emperor’s Children icon, all of which you can freely interchange.
- Furthermore, there are 4 small grenade packs that you can freely position.

Due to the diverse pairs of arms and heads, the kit offers a fair amount of variety, as each arm pair significantly changes the posture. There are also enough alternatives if you don’t like the “coneheads”. The power packs are not interchangeable, as they are connected to the bodies via various cables.
Overall, an exquisite elite kit for the Emperor’s Children. Like the Infractors, Tormentors, and Noise Marines, the Flawless Blades are also very tall and are accordingly roughly at eye level with the Eightbound of the World Eaters or the Possessed of the Chaos Space Marines.

Final Verdict
With Fulgrim, another Daemon Primarch returns with a spectacular centrepiece model. The reception would probably have been even more ecstatic if the Phoenician hadn't already received an equally impressive model from Forge World fairly recently. However, the plastic version is significantly easier to assemble and stylistically fits very well with the new Emperor's Children models like the Palatine Blades. These offer some build options and can alternatively be built without "coneheads".
