Today we’re taking a break from miniatures to review something that’s just as adorable but infinitely more huggable: Tomy’s official Warhammer plushies. Yes, you read that right: the grim darkness of the far future now comes in soft, cuddly form. We’ve got our hands on a Grenade Nurgling, a Gloomspite Git, and an oversized Ultramarine Space Marine to see if these plush companions are worth adding to your collection.

By now, Tomy has released two waves of collectible plushies. In total, there are currently 9 Warhammer 40k and 8 Age of Sigmar themed figures available. These include a Servo-skull, a Necron Scarab, a Blood Bowl ball, a Squig, Gryph-hounds, and of course: Nurglings. For this review, we picked up a cross-section of the range: the Gloomspite Git, the extra-large Ultramarine, and Grenade Nurgling.
The Tomy Warhammer plushies unboxed
With plushies, it’s perhaps important how they “feel”. That’s why I’ve recorded a video where I take a close look at all three figures, including their details and appliqués:
All three figures are made from synthetic polyester fibres with a mix of printed and embroidered appliqués, made in Vietnam. The quality and fluffiness of the fabric is good, though here and there the seams are slightly wonky. I reckon that’s acceptable for the price, though; which is on par with other branded plushies. Note that the plushies aren’t washable.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar Gloomspite git plush review
The Night Goblin is super adorable, isn’t he? At around 7″ with his pointed hat, he’s marginally larger than the Nurgling. The eyes and mouth are embroidered appliqués, whilst the belt is a printed felt piece. Incidentally, Tomy also offers a matching Gnasha-Squig plushie. I wish he could ride it!

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine – Mega-sized Club Mocchi-Mocchi Collectible Plush
A Space Marine naturally can’t be missing from the line-up, and here they’ve opted for an extra-large Ultramarine with soft Mocchi filling. At 14″, he’s roughly twice as bulky as the smaller figures, but is still designed in the same “chibi look” with an oversized head.
The Ultramarine also has a mix of embroidered appliqués and prints. I particularly like the shoulder pad trims accentuated with golden fabric. If I had to criticise one thing, it’s that the face is relatively flat, as you can see clearly in the video. The ear covers and the helmet’s “crest” have been given volume with darts, which I would have liked to see on the face plate as well. Nevertheless, with his bright colours he’s an eye-catcher in any children’s playroom (or man cave ;).
Warhammer 40,000 Grenade Nurgling plush review
The pink Grenade Nurgling is probably my favourite plush figures in the range. The cyclops eye and cheeky grin, both embroidered appliqués like the green pustules on the belly, simply bring a smile to your face. The grenade consists of printed fabric with felt appliqués, which naturally feels somewhat less premium than embroidery, but is perfectly acceptable for the price point. At 6″, the size is slightly larger than a hand.

Final Verdict
Tomy's Warhammer plushies are a lovely gift idea, for Christmas or just because. Perfect for introducing the next generation to the Warhammer hobby, or as a decorative element for your man caves. The price is more than fair, even if here and there the stitching could be a bit more precise.

These are great. I have got the Christmas Gobbo and Ultramarine (OBVS) for Mary for Christmas! great review. looking at the detail – they are not cheap but are cool 😉
