Today, I wanted to share my Votann Land Fortress with you all! It’s just a “short” 😉 post, but I couldn’t resist showing it off. I was so hyped about the Votann when they were first launched. However, as any hobbyist will agree, it’s easy to get drawn from one project to another as exciting new models are released. I really need to double my efforts and paint more units—a “little” 😉 effort often goes a long way!

Building this kit was an absolute joy. It’s packed with tiny, fantastic details that make it a true masterpiece.

What I especially loved about it was how smoothly everything fits together. The instructions were straightforward, so the build process was a pleasure rather than a chore. The kit’s variety of weapon loadouts is also welcome. You can swap out the weapons for different configurations, letting the model adapt to different tactical roles on the tabletop. I hope Games Workshop continues this trend in future kits! It’s a smart design feature, especially with the frequent updates to rules, errata, and balance data slates.

We’ve all been there: you build, glue, and carefully paint a model you love for weeks, only for the rules to shift, making it the least effective option compared to other loadouts. It’s frustrating watching a cherished piece gather dust because it’s no longer viable! But as they say, every dog has its day. With any luck, all options will become useful at some point.

Painting this model was equally rewarding, particularly the crew and cockpit. The design strikes the perfect balance between industrial mining equipment and sci-fi warfare, with loads of intricate details to bring to life with a paintbrush.

The Votann range might still be “compact” 😉 for now, but every model available is a true gem. If you’re someone who loves holding a grudge, the Leagues of Votann are absolutely worth exploring!

Happy painting, everyone!
