Now that we’re done with the small things for the Tau, let’s go big – with a Riptide.
This model is muuch fun to work with. I went a bit scenic on the base, keeping the desert theme along with remainders of a very rusty imperial(?) outpost.
The paintjob is basically the same as on the rest of the army. No camouflage on the guy because he’s part of the “heavy hitters” bunch of units in this army.
As you can see I didn’t hold back on colours on this guy. Very clear colour scheme along with heavy weathering and funky lights and OSL and all of that. Works well in my opinion and I hope that you like it too!

@Anon#1: Thank you very much. 🙂 Yeah, there are a LOT of kids out there who get themselves an airbrush and some people still are easy to impress with simple airbrush stuff sadly. But it will go away as soon as these people get behind the fact that many of these things you see on ebay are of the "basic airbrush, crude edge highlights, done" kind. You see it a LOT on eldar these days. Stuff that barely qualifies as painted gets raving applause on Facebook. Really weird. But that's probably always the case when something new hits the broadest of mainstreams. 🙂
@Anon#2: Cheers! 🙂
Fantastic paintjob! The OSL makes him look really powerful and add some nice highlights!
that is one of the few well done riptides I have seen recently, most just use the airbrush for some transition and osl and think it's great. this one actually has NO JOINT LINES and the detail shows how much effort has been put into it. congrats.
