As promised, I’m pleased to premiere my Armies on Parade showcase video. This is my first video that I’ve made for the blog. I hope you like it, if you do like it, let me know. It might lead to more in the future. The more traditional format of pictures follow after the jump, as well as how I did in the competition.
Well after all the hard graft, my vision of an Orc Fort board with recessed areas for regiments to fit into neatly is complete. It’s my first ever armies on parade board and it was a lot of fun coming up with new solutions to the hobby. I’ve been painting minis since 1993 so a terrain board is an amazing change of pace, especially a scratch built one that doesn’t use GW terrain.
So, how did I do?
I won! Look at my little smiley face holding a medal! In total there were eight entries so quite a big turnout. It was a public vote and I actually tied for first place, so it went to tie-breaker. Not sure how the tie-breaker was decided but the outcome was I won. There are pictures on the Tale of Painters Facebook pageof the other entrants.
Thank you for following my progress and all of your support. Hope you enjoyed the ride as much I did.
Garfy

What is that griffon looking thing? (I am a noob).
Greenskins on Parade ! What can be better that those furious orcs ? Wonderfull work on it, i love !
Thanks!
Hey Garfy, not sure if you will see this, but I was curious, how did you paint those Black Orcs? The armour and flesh is just perfect?
Sadly I can't remember the paint recipes. The black armour look up my ravenwing or death company tutorials. The yellow look up my imperial knight or imperial fist tutorials. Skin I think was old GW colours or Vallejo. Definetly going to want calliban green base and waaagh flesh. You'll want to shade with black. Highlight I'm not sure. Check out my dark angel tutorial for the green I think it's really similar.

Absolutely fantastic, been following your blog for awhile now your work is stunning. I love the extra details on this but just the overall quality of your models is fantastic, a big inspiration!
Everything looks amazing, favorite parts would be your squig pen, and the eyes for the fort door, not to mention all the incredible painting and ooohh the banners……
A much deserved award Garfy! It was a pleasure to watch this happen from scratch and you delivered the punchline beautifully.
Oh and hey, that "Beware Squig" is pure awesome!
Thanks everyone. 😀
Great job on a well deserved victory! I thought the video was nicely done.

Those final touches really brought it to life well done Garfy congrats on the win!
I love it, Garfy! That took a lot of work to pull all of that together and I'm glad you were rewarded for it!
After watching that I'm in Orc mode 🙂 Awesome video and awesome work.
Look at this! Wow! That yellow-black scheme is super cool…the movie idea was a nice implementation, it can be useful in the future. The "film" itself was well made. A great work Garfy!!! I envy your dedication!!!
