Known from the Black Library novels The Hollow King and Dead Kingdom, vampire Cado Ezechiar is now getting his second model. The Blades of the Hollow King box includes Cado as well as his companions Sissendra and Aurelias. In this review, we will take a closer look at the kit and the sprues.

The new Soulblight Gravelords releases will be available for pre-order starting Saturday, 10 May 2025. The pre-order period lasts two weeks, with the official release date set for 24 May 2025.
The Blades of the Hollow Knight unboxed
The Blades of the Hollow King Box contains a three-part sprue with three small sections. You also get an assembly guide. The three included models are all monopose with no build options or extra bitz. The bases are on the sprues and are all sculpted in a high amount of detail.
Cado Ezechiar stands in a watchful, defensive posture on a 50mm base and is wreathed by the spirit of Solia, bound to one of Ezechiar’s iron rings and sworn to guide her student on his fateful path. He is a renegade Soulblight revenant haunted by the destruction of his kingdom and family. Driven by vengeance against the worshippers of the Dark Gods, he accepted Neferata’s offer to hunt them, only to become an exile.

Sissendra is a ruthless and merciless duellist who has fully embraced the Soulblight curse. Her model charges forward aggressively and stands on a 40mm base. Turned by the Hollow King years ago, her violent nature makes her an unusual companion for Cado, though the Hollow King feels responsible for her.
Aurelias is a loyal mortal death mage in the service of Neferata, also posed on a 40mm base. This powerful sorcerer is accompanied by the twin-headed serpent Kennistrix, ensuring the Mortarch of Blood keeps a close watch on Cado. The model bears a lot of visual similarities to Sekhar, Fang of Nulahmia, which I’ve painted here.
The Blades of the Hollow King have their own warscroll in the new Soulblight Gravelords battletome, and are playable as a Regiment of Renown for the Flesh-eater Courts, Nighthaunt and Ossiarch Bonereapers.

Pros
- 3 highly detailed models with dynamic poses and sculpted bases
Cons
- No alternate bitz or options
Final Verdict
You could have a right old debate about whether the previous Cado model or the new one's turned out better. But the Blades of the Hollow Knight Box contains three undeniably characterful miniatures, which have a fair bit of presence on the tabletop thanks to their sculpted bases. The price of £42.50 / 55 Euros / $65 is fair enough for that, but as is usual with special characters, you have to do without any extra bits.
