Idoneth Deepkin Manifestations unboxing and review
The Idoneth Deepkin Manifestations box contains a large sprue, one 130 mm base, two 50 mm bases, and an assembly guide. The RRP is £35.50 / 44€ / $58.
The models are a “designed in the UK, made in China” kit, as is common for other Age of Sigmar manifestations, Endless Spells, and terrain pieces. You can spot this from the slightly different sprue shape. As is typical for kits produced in China, the moulded detail is a bit softer. That said, I’ve seen worse with these kind of kits – fine textures like wood grain and sand are decently crisp. However, the mould lines are more pronounced than in regular kits, and removing them, especially from the many intricately sculpted water droplets and ropes, is quite the undertaking.

During assembly, also be prepared to do some gap-filling. The “head” of the Incarnate of the Deep is made from two halves (parts 5 and 6), with the large wave piece (part 4) placed on top. Where these three parts meet, a prominent T-shaped seam forms that should definitely be filled, as it’s in a very visible spot. Another noticeable seam appears where the front-right wave tail (part 15) connects to the base.
But once you’ve made it through the cleaning and assembly, you’re rewarded with a true centrepiece model. The rendition of the flowing shapes and dynamic water effects are second to none.
Mathaela, Oracle of the Abyss unboxing and review
Mathaela is a new character model for the Idoneth. They are a gifted seer and the spiritual heart of the Temple of Sarr Danoi, a deep-sea sanctum nestled in the lightless depths of the Maithnar Sea. On the tabletop, they have access to the Lore of the Deeps and can boost the Attacks of nearby friendly companion weapons by 1.
The small box contains a single sprue, a 40 mm base, and an instruction leaflet. The RRP is £26 / 34€ / $42. The 13-part model comes with no build options or extra bits and is therefore monopose.

Mathaela is depicted in an aggressive stance, mid-spellcast, held aloft by ghostly sea creatures. Together with the flowing ribbons of their headdress, the model has a strikingly dramatic silhouette – perfectly fitting for such a pivotal priest of the Deepkin.
Ikon of the Sea / Storm unboxing and review
The Ikon of the Sea also comes in a small box with a single sprue, a 40 mm base, and an assembly guide. The RRP is £24 / 31.50€ / $38. The pose is dynamic, as if the Ikon is leaping into battle on a cresting wave – fitting for its “Surging Sea” ability, which helps it and friendly units surge into close combat more swiftly.

The sprue offers two build options:
- Ikon of the Sea: a pair of arms wielding a two-handed Tidal Glaive, along with a head featuring an elaborate crested helm
- Ikon of the Storm: a pair of arms holding twin Maelstrom Blades, and a head with a slightly more modest helm crest
Assembly is straightforward, and any joins along the base’s wave effect are nicely concealed. All in all, a well-designed new hero choice that fits seamlessly into the Deepkin aesthetic.

8.0 Score
Pros
- Strikingly dynamic designs, especially the Manifestations and Ikon kits
- Ikon of the Sea/Storm offers two distinct weapon and head options
- Masterfully crafted silhouette and pose for Mathaela
Cons
- Made-in-China production leads to softer detail and heavier mould lines on the Manifestations
- Manifestations kit also requires visible gap-filling in key areas
- Mathaela is monopose with no build options or extras
Final Verdict
These new Deepkin releases bring some stunning centrepiece models and characterful sculpts to the table. While the Made-in-China production does result in softer details and more clean-up work than usual on the Manifestations kit, the spectacular design make them a worthwhile addition to any Idoneth collection. A visually impressive wave of reinforcements, with just a few snags beneath the surface.
