It’s Battleforce Season! Games Workshop has again packaged a selection of army boxes that let you save as much as 37% off the retail price. The 2025 line-up features seven battleforces for Warhammer 40,000 and four for Age of Sigmar. Previous years have shown these disappear rapidly, especially from local hobby stores, so place your pre-order immediately. To help you decide, we’ve broken down the value and reviewed every box below.
This year, there will be 7 Battleforces for Warhammer 40k, and 4 Battleforces for Age of Sigmar. The RRP of each box will be £155 / 200 € / $250. So compared to last year’s £140.00 and £135.00 boxes, there’s a £15/20 increase. Nevertheless, the boxes still offer substantial savings, some up to £90 / 37% off.
The boxes will be up for preorder on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, 10 am UK time / 11 am European time / 10 am PST / 1 pm EST in the US and Canada, so right now when you read this. The preorder window will be two weeks. The Battleforces are only available while stocks last. Based on previous years, I expect that the 40k boxes will sell out very quickly, so don’t hesitate if you want one:
Warhammer 40.000 Battleforces savings breakdown
- Space Marines – Iron Halo Strike Force: Well, they are Space Marines, what can you say. The Company Heroes and the Sternguard Veterans are certainly the most exciting kits, and you get the new Space Marines heads sprue for the first time in this box. Redemptor Dreadnoughts are always good, but many Space Marine collectors will surely already have these, just like the Hellblasters. However, the saving of about 35% is quite good, and there are lots of points included. About 800 points. Total value: £235 / $395
- Deathkorps of Krieg – Siege Platoon: Every Astra Militarum collector is happy about any discount box they can get. While vehicles are missing, it features a good amount of infantry and two artillery teams. It’s thematically quite fitting and a decent start for a new army, but there is a lot of overlap with the Combat Patrol. Unfortunately, with a saving of approximately 25%, the box is one of the worst, and the included points value is also low. About 450 pts. Total value: £205 / $332
- Chaos Space Marines – Hellforged Warband: The contents of the Chaos Space Marines box, with the Obliterators and Venomcrawler, are reminiscent of old army sets and will surely already be in the collection of long-time hobbyists. On the upside, however, there is a good unit mix with little overlap with the Combat Patrol, and the opportunity to get the Lord Discordant at a lower price. The ancient Rhino kit feels a bit out of place. The saving of just under 30% is average, but the points total is comparatively high. About 800 pts. Total value: £217 / $351
- Emperor’s Children – Blissbound Warband: Getting a large centrepiece model like Fulgrim in a discount box is always a highlight. Flawless Blades are popular, but they overlap with the Combat Patrol. The box is certainly best viewed as an expansion to the Army Box that we reviewed here. The included points and saving of about 30% are in the upper mid-range. About 700 pts. Total value: £224 / $364

- T’au Empire – Farsight Cadre: Thematically speaking, certainly not a bad box. You get Commander Farsight and a bunch of big Battlesuits. For long-time T’au collectors, however, there is certainly nothing new. The included points are quite low, as is the saving of “only” about 25%. About 500 pts. Total value: £211 / $345
- Tyranids – Crusher Stampede: That is a strange box. It includes some popular large monsters that have recently been frequently out of stock: the Haruspex/Exocrine, the Maleceptor/Toxicrene, and the Tervigon/Tyrannofex. However, those are all “old-style” older Tyranid kits. In addition, you get the sprue with the Neurotyrant and Screamer-Killer, featuring the new, more detailed Tyranid design. Since these models were included in the Leviathan box and the various Starter Sets, they feel more like filler. Nevertheless, the 30% saving and points value are quite good. About 700 pts. Total value: £219 / $361
- Leagues of Votann – Cthonian Prospect: Thematically, the Votann box feels quite good; you get a mix of some kits from the first wave, along with the new Kapricus and the Earthshakers. Furthermore, the box only has a single overlap with the Combat Patrol (the Thunderkyn), which makes it highly expandable. The saving, at just over 30%, is at the higher end, but the points value is rather low. About 550 pts. Total value: £227 / $369

Increased prices and percentage savings at the lower end make this year’s Christmas boxes slightly less attractive than last year. Nevertheless, I expect that they will sell out extremely quickly again. So, don’t wait too long and check what is still available (and secure additional discounts with our partners):

- Gloomspite Gitz – Dankhold Rampage: Do you like Trolls? If the answer is yes, then this is the box for you. A very thematic compilation, with the opportunity to get Trugg the Troggoth King and a Dankhold Troggoth at a discounted price. Only the Fellwater Troggoths are quite old models, but they still look fantastic and a currently Warhammer.com only. The discount of about 33% is decent, and you get a high amount of points in the box. About 1100 pts. Total value: £229.50 / $378
- Skaven – Skryre Warpswarm: The Skaven box is quite interesting because it doesn’t give us the usual flood of Clanrats. Instead, it contains a full 20 Stormvermin, as well as weapon teams and Acolytes. The Jezzails and the Ratling Warpblaster, however, are overlaps with Skaventide. Despite this, the box is worth a look for Skaven collectors, and the discount of about 33% is decent. About 900 pts. Total value: £231 / $386
- Soulblight Gravelords – Lances of the Crimson Keep: A highlight for me – Prince Vhordrai is one of the coolest (and most expensive) models of recent years, and here you can get him in a discount box. 10 Blood Knights might be a bit of overkill, and perhaps you already have a unit of 5 from the old Spearhead box. Nevertheless, it is thematically fitting. Only the Fell Bats feel a bit like filler; here I would rather have had the new Vampire Lord on Nightmare Steed. Still, the discount of about 37% is stellar. About 1000 pts. Total value: £245.00 / $403
- Sylvaneth – Outcast Spitegrove: This box contains a lot of models, and a Treelord is always good. Even if the discount of 35% is pretty good, I would advise against this box. The 20 Dryads are ancient models from the Warhammer Fantasy days, and I can imagine they will be revised soon. The Sylvaneth Warcry Warband already featured Dryads in an updated design. About 1000 pts. Total value: £240 / $402

As you can see, the savings on the Age of Sigmar Battleforces are generally significantly higher. The Soulblight box even breaks the 35% mark in British Pounds. Usually, the Age of Sigmar Christmas boxes don’t sell out quite as quickly, but thanks to the high savings, it could be different this year.
