The Lumineth Realm-lords are receiving a new commander to lead their forces, along with a battletome and multiple army bundle sets. Today we’re reviewing the Lord Regent, a heroic general designed to inspire Auralan Wardens from the front lines. Read further for all the build options and high-res sprue images.

Vanari Lord Regent unboxing

Lord Regents are heroic generals who lead from the front and bolster units of Auralan Wardens. The model comes in a small box containing one small sprue, a 32mm base, and instructions. The RRP is a hefty £27 / 34.50 € / $43.50.

Pleasingly, the kit offers quite a few customisation options. Recently, Games Workshop has been releasing multi-part character models with extra options more frequently (usually the generic leaders, such as the new Drukhari Archon, see review here). As an old-school Warhammer fan, I find this very gratifying.

The build options:

  • Raised sword in the right hand (part 17), and shield in the left hand (18 and 19)
  • Lowered sword in the right hand (9), and helmet in the left hand (11 and 12)
  • A helmet with majestic crest (16), or a bare head (10)
  • A vial that’s strapped to the back (15), or a double back banner (13)

So you first build the body (complete with obligatory tactical rock), and can then essentially choose between one of two poses and decide between the heads and if you want a banner or not. The arms aren’t freely combinable, as they must fit into specific shoulder pieces, so you must choose between either sword and shield or sword and helmet. And of course, if you choose the pose with helmet under his arm, you will have to use the bare head.

Score

Pros

  • Multiple build options allow for two distinct poses and looks
  • Two head options, banner or vial for his back

Cons

  • Arms aren't freely interchangeable despite multiple options
  • Pricey kit for just an infantry-sized hero on foot

Final Verdict

The Lord Regent is a welcome addition to the Lumineth Realm-lords range. Whilst the options aren't completely modular, the choice between two distinct poses and various cosmetic alternatives provides enough variety to make each Lord Regent feel somewhat unique. The sculpt quality is excellent, and for old-school Warhammer fans who remember when character kits routinely offered customisation, this is a refreshing return to form.
