The High Elves take to the gridiron with grace and arrogance in the new Caledor Dragons Blood Bowl team. We’re reviewing this latest Elf team, which brings iconic fantasy units like White Lions, Dragon Princes, and Phoenix Warriors onto the pitch. In this review, we examine high-res sprue images, sculpt quality, build options, and whether these pointy-eared athletes are worth adding to your Blood Bowl league.

The High Elf Blood Bowl Team will be available for pre-order starting Saturday, 7 March 2026. The pre-order period lasts two weeks, with the official release date set for 21 March 2026. The RRP is £34.00 / 43.50 € / $55.50, like previous team boxes.

The Caledor Dragons unboxed

The Caledor Dragons box contains 12 models plus markers:

  • 6 High Elf Linemen
  • 2 White Lions (who act as Blitzers)
  • 2 Dragon Princes (Blitzers/Runners)
  • 2 Phoenix Warriors (Throwers)
  • 2 Dragonling balls and 2 Shimmering Stone balls
  • 2 double-sided coins
  • 2 turn and re-roll markers
  • a small High Elf Blood Bowl transfer sheet with black and white markings
  • a colour assembly instruction booklet with quick-start rules

The miniatures are, Blood Bowl-typically, spread across two identical sprues with 6 models, 2 markers, and 2 balls each. As a result, the poses/models are all duplicated, but there are minimal customisation options. Additionally, you get 32mm bases, unlike earlier teams without holes for inserting the balls.

The build options (per 6 model sprue):

  • Linemen Pose 1’s and Lineman Pose 2’s heads (parts 6 and 13) are interchangeable (Pose 3 needs to be build with a specific head, part 22)
  • There are 3 interchangeable plumes for the Linemen’s helmets (parts 7, 14, and 23)
  • The Phoenix Warrior has no build options
  • The White Lion has a choice of 2 heads (40 and 41), as well as 2 left arm poses (43 and 44), so you can build two subtly different models from the box
  • The Dragon Prince has a choice of 2 helmet decorations (55 and 56), as well as 2 right forearms (52 and 53), so you can build two subtly different models from the box

There are already many Elf teams in Blood Bowl (for example, the Dark Elves, which I painted here for my Blitz Bowl collection). The old High Elf sculpts were somewhat generic, but the new models are inspired by the regional warriors of the High Elves, which gives the team its own unique yet classic High Elf flavour. It takes the classic High Elves archetypes and unit types and turns them into positionals: Throwers were reimagined as Phoenix Warriors, Blitzers become Dragon Princes, White Lions become Catchers who can also be used more aggressively like Blitzers. And the Linemen’s design combines the armour and tabards of the Spearmen with football-typical shorts and boots.

However, if you want to use the models as a crossover to The Old World, I have to dampen your expectations. The proportions are completely different from the old Fantasy High Elves kits (like the White Lions and Phoenix Warriors or also the Lothern Sea Guard). The Blood Bowl High Elves are much larger, but match the proportions of the other Elf teams. In particular, the iconic pointed helmets (and thus the heads) are much smaller than their Old World / Fantasy counterparts. Especially with the Linemen I find them somewhat too small, even compared to the head sizes of the other Elf teams. But that’s a matter of taste.

Otherwise, we’re dealing with another nicely designed Blood Bowl team here. The only thing I could criticise is that I would have wished for somewhat more variety in the duplicated special player sculpts (meaning the White Lions, Dragon Princes, and Phoenix Warriors). Despite a few optional pieces they do look very much like duplicates.

Pros

  • Well-designed team with distinctive identity separate from other Elf teams
  • Takes classic High Elf archetypes and translates them effectively to football
  • Charming details like Linemen's short trousers add character

Cons

  • As usual for Blood Bowl, all poses are duplicated with minimal customisation options
  • Special player sculpts (White Lions, Dragon Princes, Phoenix Warriors) thus lack variety
  • Completely incompatible proportions with The Old World High Elves for crossover use

Final Verdict

The Caledor Dragons capture the essence of High Elves whilst giving them their own football identity. The sculpts are characterful and the translation of classic fantasy units to the pitch works well. However, the kit suffers from the usual Blood Bowl limitations: duplicated poses with minimal variety, and special players that look too similar to their paired counterparts. Additionally, anyone hoping to use these for The Old World crossover will be disappointed by the completely different scale and proportions.
