With the re-release of Lucius the Eternal and the Lord Kakophonist, the Emperor’s Children model range is now complete. Stimulate your senses in this unboxing & review thanks to high-res sprue images and a detailed description of all the build options.

The Emperor’s Children releases will be available for pre-order starting Saturday, 12 April 2025. The pre-order period lasts two weeks, with the official release date set for 26 April 2025.
Here on Tale of Painters, we’ve already reviewed the Noise Marines, Infractors/Tormentors, and Lord Exultant kits as part of the army box (click here for more). In this two-part review, we were taking a look at Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh, and the Flawless Blades last week. Today it’s all about Lucius the Eternal and the Lord Kakophanist.
Lucius the Eternal returns in plastic
Lucius had been one of the most infamous individuals of the IIIrd Legion since the days of the Heresy. The box contains a small sprue as well as assembly instructions and a 50mm base. His new plastic model is a big step forward compared to the old metal version. The “Faultless Blade” strides proudly forward, with a grotesquely twisted body and an ecstatic expression, his sword “The Blade of the Laer” thrust forward in search of foes. The real eye-catcher, however, is the Lash of Torment, which Lucius dynamically whips around his body, making the model appear very three-dimensional.
- There are no build options; the model is monopose.

Lord Kakophonist unboxed
The Lord Kakophonist reinterprets the concept of the classic Doom Siren, turning it into a new character model for the Emperor’s Children. A Lord who is utterly absorbed in the sensations of the battle’s vibrations. The small box contains a small sprue, assembly instructions, and a 40mm base. You can equip the Lord with either dual screamer pistols or a screamer pistol and sword. In addition, the following build options are included:
- 1 right arm with a screamer pistol
- 2 heads (one bare head with a half-mask, one helmet)
- 1 right arm with a power sword

Final Verdict
With Lucius the Eternal, what's likely my favourite model from the new Emperor's Children range is being released. Imposing and three-dimensional, the new edition is a real eye-catcher and an improvement in every way. The Lord Kakophoni stands out a little less, but it has some build options and a cool gunslinger pose.
