The Helsmiths of Hashut are on the march, and now they’ve invaded Tale of Painters as well. For the Community Showcase on Warhammer Community, I submitted this unit champion of the Infernal Cohorts, depicted poised on a rocky outcrop with a two-handed Hashutite blade.
My take on painting Helsmiths of Hashut
The reveal of the new Helsmiths of Hashut range absolutely blew me away. So when the call went out to paint the new models for a Community Showcase on Warhammer Community, I didn’t hesitate for long. I chose the Champion model of the Infernal Cohort, which with its sculpted rocky base makes for a sweet little mini-diorama. What I really like about the new kit is that, alongside male heads, you also get plenty of female faces, so I went for the female head option for my Championess. More about the new kits in my review of the Helsmiths of Hashut army set.

For the colour scheme, I settled on the yellow, gold, and black of Muspelzharr. Many people associate Chaos Dwarfs with the classic red, but I wanted to do something a little less common. I documented all the painting steps for a tutorial, which you’ll soon find here on Tale of Painters.

Final thoughts
Painting the championess of the Infernal Cohort of the Helsmiths of Hashut was a blast. As I pointed out in my review of the army set, the designers have struck a really good balance with the details of the Helsmiths sculpts. Full of character and intricacy, but not so fine or overloaded that you end up painting forever. For now, the model will remain a single display piece in my cabinet. But who knows, perhaps one day I’ll end up answering the decree of the Helsmiths of Hashut.
