This is the Heldrake that I recently completed. I think he turned out pretty well. I originally was not the biggest fan of the model, but now have quite warmed to it. Being a chaos player myself I think I will surely be using one of these guys somehow within my Deathguards. Has anyone used the Heldrake yet? And how effective was he?

One question, how do you do the blood effect on the wings? It's awesome!
Hey thanks all. I'm seriously planning on getting on of these myself for my death guard. I'm hoping it will come in handy with dealing with some annoying hive guards that keep dropping my tanks.
I just used my Heldrake last night against IG. Worked wonders. Had it down near the enemy deployment zone in the first turn and took out a hq squad, a troop choice squad and about 50% of another. Plus Soulblaze is amazing if you can get it to work for you. 2 of these would definately be op. But sooo awesome. Amazing work on the paint job too. Look amazing 😀
Looking forward to getting a couple of those wee birdies myself, if i ever manage to get the bloomin' codex LOL. Hopefully Wayland will sort me out this week…then i will start to order the rest of the new Chaos stuff, and cant wait to give the wee birdie a go on the table, i am stumped thought how to paint them, i like how u have done yours, it would work with most chaos armies, seems to fit well with Deathguard whatever, it looks good to me, and i will be happy if i can get mine somewhere near.
Awesome work 😀
I would be more than pleased to see a "How to paint" tutorial in the future…
Bale flamer those pesky scouts in hiding, vector strike the AA guns wounding on 4s ignoring its 3+ save, heck, you can even flame template bastion and do d6 wounds to those inside. Pretty nasty unit that is very hard to counter what with the 5+ invulnerable and 5+ regeneration.
Your version looks as amazing as it plays in game. Very nice.
Ive used it against a blood angel army and my dark gods it was really effective! Used it with the Bale-flamer and terrorised his squads, even killed a few with the soul fire thing!
Tried to vector strike a dreadnought a couple of times but that wasnt too effective, probably best to reserve vector striking to things that are light armoured like fliers and the such, but still, doesnt hinder you from shooting so vector strike every turn!
Great job on it. Seen a few others done up already but they were terrible. One of those all airbrush, no brush work types. This looks the boss, and nice work with the blood additions to the wings!
looks awesome, how was it done, drybrush of silver and bronze for a rusty type look?
yeah, the muted bits of not bolt gun look great.
I have played one games with the drake and it was amazing it took out two storm talons and like 4 white scar bikes and a thunder fire cannon so definitely worth its points and I used the auto cannon version not the flamer one
A few explanations on how you did it would be great. Like colors used.
And if is possible also a tutorial about your nice bases…
Damn, you're fast! Although he looks more like Black Legion, not really Death Guard, but, oh well, awesome paint job nonetheless! I like him a lot!
Love your painted version, Games workshop's version was HIDEOUS!!! Complete turnoff to the model, but your version has pricked my interest in this model.
