WIP update on my Raider. I’ve finished highlighting the hull and glued both halves together, so with most parts of the model assembled you can get a better feel for what the finished model might look like. Now I’m working on the poles, the dark lance and the sail, before I tackle the crew. I also thought about adding freehands and kabal symbols, I’ll probably just apply transfers to the hull and add a typical Dark Eldar rune design to the sail. I don’t want to risk to paint a freehand to the hull, as it’s really hard to cover up any mistakes on an airbrushed surface. What do you think so far?

Over the decades, he has painted multiple armies and countless warbands and miniatures. When he's not painting miniatures or working on his library of hand-painted colour swatches, he's testing the latest paints, tools and model kits with German precision and a no non-sense attitude.

I'm curious what you did to paint the decking on this Raider. Is it just grey or did you use several colors?
Looks awesome man!
Any tips on how you get such clean line highlights? I'm always having to clean up mine, but that seems almost impossible with your airbrushed basecoat.
Always inspiring work! Keep the pics coming 🙂
It takes a steady hand and a quality brush. For larger models it also helps me to break the model down into smaller pieces that I paint separately, as I can better rest my arms and hands for more brush control. And mine needed cleaning up, too, I had to try to mix the appropiate colour and blend it into the airbrushed gradient.
Thanks for the reply! I didn't even consider blending back in to the airbrush gradient.
Looks amazing!
Yes, if you want freehand on the hull you have to use a masking method before you airbrush. Transfers are fine if you can use microsol and so on.
Personally I am not a fan of this style – where every edge is highlighted – but this is still very pleasing to the eye. Good job!
