Back to painting big Space Marines after the bunch of Epic scale ones. These days I have a bunch of Blood Angels tanks and a flyer on the table. Here’s the first of the Predators (Destructor, that is). As you can see, Forgeworld front upgrade.
At first I wasn’t sure about going all red on these vehicles or use black parts to break up the red (like deeper “panels” on the side and such. These typical candidates for The Contrasting Colour) but then decided to go with a proper Blood Angels colour scheme. Due to customer request I will change the blue drops and lenses to green as well though.
So what’s still WIP on this guy? A few details and after that smoke and soot marks and dust and dirt around the tracks. After that comes the dozer blade and that’s that. 🙂

A beautiful tank, I've just started painting vehicles and seeing good examples like this really helps.
@GrimKlaw: Thanks. :)Yeah, BA were my first army so I feel very fond of them. Just stick to the DA for now though. New codex should be out in early 2013 and I'm sure that most people will be happy with it. 🙂
@Stahly: No infantry for now, I guess these are just additions to an already existing army but I know that the client I'M doing these for does have a collection of BA infantry as well so let's see. 🙂 Yeah, you can hardly go wrong with red in your armies but a nice blue works just as well. The only thing I'm not so fond of is Marines in really drab colours.
@Anonymous: Sure, why not. I mean it's nothing great, as you can see it's airbrushed, zenithal highlighting and that's it. With reds it's always about the base colour. I started with a mid-brown, then highlihgted up to a pretty light peachy colour and then gave it a funishing of thin red. Works like a charm.
lovely reds! will you be sharing the paint recipe in a future post?
Are you gonna paint Blood Angels infantry, too? I'm a big Blood Angels fan, if there would have been all the BA plastic kits back when I started my Ultramarines, I would have probably gone for Blood Angels instead. A vibrant red looks always ace on the table I think, which is why I went with Saim-Hann for my Eldar.
That is one lovely tank. Reminds me how much I love seeing well-painted Blood Angels and makes my painting of the Dark Vengeance box even harder as I want to start collecting Blood Angels!
Cheers,
Ludovic
