Okay this is a real quick one, so I will keep it short. I have had a incredibly busy week starting up a commission on a huge Ogre army. When I say huge its huge. So apologies if I have not been able to answer any questions on the comments section on TOP, but as soon as I get a minutes breath I will. I have also been working on a unit of Fire Warriors and Killa Cans. So hopefully I should have some more posts up for next week showing what I’ve been up to.

I absolutely dig your Tau colour scheme! However, this time I get the impression that, somehow, the areas about the suits' legs lack a bit of depth. Right now it seems as if the bases' colour blends seamlessly with the models' legs.
Some shadows/washes could probably bring out more texture and armour details, as well as provide more contrast to the bases. Otherwise, solid work!
Hi Kai, the guy who commissioned me to paint them wanted the legs to blend with the bases. So its pretty much supposed to look that way.
Ah, okay, I get it. Stealth and stuff. Haven't thought about it that way, nice idea!
These are really unique and different. I completely get the idea behind blending the bases into the legs. They're stealth teams and use cloaking tech.
If I was to offer one single piece of critique to make these even better it would be watch out for mould and join lines. It's really noticeable on the weapons and spoils them a bit.
Neat job, but mold lines and gaps really detract from paint job. Sorry, but it's really important to prep your figs better.
Its just a personal taste thing. I like joints on weapons , armour etc. Flesh no, but machinery etc I like that as it looks realistic. Normally the the guys/gals that prep my stuff I tell them thrm to leave it that way. If its a body line we ussually cover it up pretty well. Personally I dont see gaps within the body joins, it looks pretty solid to me.
I know some people have already asked this but could we get a tutorial or simply a paint recipe for how you achieved this colour scheme for your Tau? They all look terrific!
Hi
Ive just found this site and would also 2nd the request for a step by step about how you paint. Id love to know more about stuff like this;
– do you always undercoat black and then layer on top with airbrush to get more depth?
– you seem to use foam a lot for texture (especially on tau) & damage/chipping effects, is that right?
– do you use gloss/matt varnish at all or do you achieve the desired matt/gloss through choice of paint?
– speaking of paint, what do you tend to rely on? Ive seen you mention vallejo model air a lot – is there anything else? And what do you use for the lovely blood effects?
– do you have a set routine for the steps you follow in your painting?
Thats a ton of stuff Im asking – and probably a lot of work for you to answer too! but Id be fascinated to hear anything you're willing to share.
Cheers,
Greg
