I’ve been procrastinating the Doomsday Ark since starting this Tale of the Mega Painters project back in January 2013. It’s a huge kit with difficult to reach complicated areas. I had to paint it in 21 sub-assemblies, but after two and a half weeks it’s complete! Lots of angles after the jump.
Here is a comparison shot with two recently painted Necron units. I only have 6 Tombblades and 8 Warriors left to paint for the challenge.
It’s not the hardest model I’ve had to paint for the Necrons. That award goes to the Tesseract Vault which was 5 and a half weeks of painting edge highlights. Which is the hardest model you’ve had to paint in 2013? Tell me in the comments and post links to pictures.

rock solid, as always. great looking model, and looks fantastic next to the other troops.
Cool model, I especially like how neat and uniform the highlights are.
On a different note, could you do some beginners painting tutorials introducing different techniques, I am only really starting to seriously paint and I think many people would appreciate them.
I have no plans to do beginners lessons. I paint regularly in a store in North London. If anyone wants to ask me advice in person, contact me through the Tale of Painters Facebook group. Or if yo have painting questions you can always post them on the Tale of Painters Facebook group.
Awesome paintwork as always, I love your edge highlights they always look so neat.
For me the hardest piece for me to complete was not ironically my armies on parade entry but a much smaller piece for an in store contest at my local GW, here was what I entered http://wargamesnirvana.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/showcase-battle-for-blood-island.html
The hard part was making/painting the mini's for the table as the are just so small and had to be painted in their 'movement tray', this was followed by trying the replicate the high elves magic cards in miniature too. it was still a vastly fun project however.
That is awesome. Well done dude.
