Look at me old sod buying myself a GW model! 😀
Other than with my regular GW purchases I actually build and paint her pretty much right away though. Over the past year I also bought that new Cauldron of Blood and the new War Hydra, but they’re still safe in their shrink wrap.
I’m a sucker for 2nd edition 40k though and I do like my Sisters of Battle army, so I had to have this mini.
Much to my surprise she’s cast in finecast. I’d fully expected her to be cast in plastic. That made me realize that Finecast is a bit of a daft material. I’d have proper metal over that any day. the casting is fine, but could be crisper. Other than that of course it’s a nice callback, and it’s fun to add another character to my army. Yup, it’s 2017 and I’m actually adding a figure to one of my 40k armies. Weird, I know.

I had the same reaction when I got mine. Yay retro mini! *crinkle crinkly rip* Finecast?! Why?! ~sigh~ *crams her into cupboard of doom*
Mine is half assembled- I hit a roadblock of Finecast frustration when I looked at the sword. Its salvageable, but yeah. At least the Captain Centos model I got at release only had a messed up head- which is easily replaced with the identical plastic part- but this is generally why I stay away from resin in the first place.
I'm mostly finished painting mine. I don't think the material is true fine cast. The casting isn't as sharp or as detail rich.
Thanks for the comments, comrades!
I didn't have any problems with it as I said, it was just surprising and I had to remember that it's just a weird material. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's true Finecast. 😀 No problems, not even a bubble and much to my surprise the sword was perfectly fine apart from a little bent.
