Welcome to today’s post, where I share the first model I’ve painted from the Imperium Hatchette Partworks magazine subscription. This haemoglobin thirsty warrior is a Bladeguard Lieutenant of the Blood Angels Chapter. With a yellow chest Aquila, black shoulder rims and an orangey red armour he’s best on the late 80s and early 90s way of painting Blood Angels.

I had to paint up a Goblin Green base and gig out my flocked battlement and hills for this photos. Sadly though he’s not glued to the base because at the time of writing this I’m actually torn between Goblin Green and Steel Legion Drab bases. I’m heavily leaning towards Steel Legion Drab because it will photograph better with the Necrons I plan to paint from Imperium.

I decided to hold a twitter poll to see what other people thought. Twitter was pretty much evenly split with the Goblin Green just nabbing the lead at the last moment.

Ignoring the base dilemma for a moment, I’m really happy with the colour scheme and the freehand chapter symbol came out great. I’m quite excited to paint more. Issue 3 of Imperium is three Assault Intercessors so I’ll get to paint them with yellow helmets. I’m pretty sure one of the models will be used for a tutorial for this scheme too so keep an eye out for that.
