After our Warcry afternoon with Garfy and Dunk, I caught the Warcry bug. So it was time to finally complete my game set to have a fully painted terrain set at home. For this, I came up with a new colour scheme, which I’m sharing with you in this post.
A few years ago, I painted some of the Azyrite Ruins from the first, original Warcry starter box. However, I was never quite satisfied with the dark grey, as it didn’t harmonise well with all the game boards I own. I wanted something lighter and more generic, something I could also use for the Fire & Jade board for Spearhead. So I came up with this super quick-to-paint colour scheme, which mainly consists of zenithal airbrushing, dry brushing, and weathering with pigments.

Abbreviations: AK = AK 3rd Gen, COM = TT Combat, GSW = Greenstuff World, P3 = Privateer Press Formula P3, RMS = Reaper Master Series, TAP = The Army Painter Warpaints (OoP), TTC = Two Thin Coats, VGC = Vallejo Game Color, VGA = Vallejo Game Air, VMC = Vallejo Model Color, VMA = Vallejo Model Air, VMechaC = Vallejo Mecha Color, WPA = Warpaints Air, WPF = Warpaints Fanatic
The result
As you can see, I opted for a warm light grey. For the moss on the wooden planks, I specifically chose a cool green, which complements the colour palette of the original Warcry board. As a contrast, I used bright orange tones for the rusted iron, which should pair well with the warm tones and lava on the Aqshy side of the Fire & Jade board.
My goal is to have a complete game board full of Azyrite Ruins painted by the end of the year, along with some extra scatter terrain. Please follow me here on Tale of Painters for the latest updates.
