This is the test model for my new Necron army. I’m really pleased with my colour scheme. It’s my first real go at OSL and whislt it’s not perfect, it’s not too bad for the first test model which is only a rank and file troop choice after all. I hope to refine the effect a little before I paint the HQs and larger vehicles.
I used rust pigments on the metals to age them and paint upright slate chips on the base to look like alien crystals. Going to carry on now and paint the next 4 immortals.

To make the base I added small mounds of milliputt to the base and then pressed small slate chips into the milliputt so they looked like jagged crystals bursting from the ground. I painted them like crystals to reinforce this.
The colours used on the base were terracotta and then dry brushed with bloody red. I'm thinking I might go to my local model shop and by some red foliage to add to it.
Odd thing to key in on, but how did you do the base?
Ghoulio, rust pigments can be bought from Forgeworld and it's like a coloured powder which you can brush onto your models. It's great for weathering vehicles.
Thanks for all the lovely comments. I love you guys!
I posted this cron on the GW Facebook uploader and I'm currently in the lead with the most likes and top of the Hall of Fame. Wow. I should really pull my finger out and finish the rest of the squad.
this looks awesome. loving the non green/silver necrons appearing, your OSL is great. Can't wait to see more
Stunning paintjob! I really love the glow effect, very inspiring.
I have a quick question for you. What do you mean by "rust pigments"? I love the overall look of the model btw. I always thought they were great figs and it is a shame that most people do the standard boltgun metal with little to no effort so it's nice to see someone give them the treatment they deserve. Great job!
Really, really cool. A nice deviation from the standard boltgun metal 'crons. Well done!
Thanks Garfy, much appreciated.
Ooooooh, that's one pretty Necron. Very cool colour scheme as well. Stunning job.
Warflake, I used VGC stormy blue + ultramarine blue for the edges of the gun, but the glory bits are ice blue +white. I washed it with asurman blue wash to tie it all together.
Beautiful. The colour scheme works really well, very eye catching.
i like the fact that it has some colour, and not the standerd necron look. keep em coming m8 😀
What blue did you use? I wanted to do something very similar, got the inspiration from the Thokt Dynasty from the Codex.
Agree with previous comments, really nice looking colour scheme. A whole army like that will look amazing, one of the coolest looking Necron I've seen.
Great work. The blue really contrasts well with the red of the armour and the base.
Wicked Mate!
