I’ve been working late all week (any one would think my name is Stahly – lol), so work has been slow going on the Spider. I have finished the flesh and painted the claws. Sigur asked me if I would be adding a contrasting colour, and I thought the red spikes might work better then a more natural bone. I picked out all the carapace dimples and tiny spikes with a light brown. See more after the jump…
Here you can see I’ve lightened the flesh a fair bit since the last picture. Just the ickle spiders to paint crawling out the flesh to paint, then it’s the eyes. I think I’ll leave the eyes black and paint some white dot reflections in the eyes.

Absolutely Awsome work!
Do you made the skin complete with Airbrush? This isreally nice!
Wow the dark red spikes really add up to the paint scheme. Stunning.
Love it.. just about to jump into painting up 1 or 2 of them myself.. can't say I will go so realistic as yours, but the step by step is making it easier to know how to pull mine off 🙂 Good work!
As someone who has bad arachnophobia, this was not the best post to wake up to this morning. On the plus side, it looks so real that my phobia kicked in! (I can't stare at those eyes. The eeeyeees).
love it man!!!
Looking fantastic! the color scheme is perfect and the way you have blended the colors is phenomenal. Keep up the good work
I'd give the eyes some colour? A dark green to contrast the red, perhaps.
Looks amazing, looking forward to the next step. I really like the graduation on the carapace.
