Channelling the ways of MC Gets Easily Sidetracked we take a short detour from the titan and have a look at some sunny army shots of the commissioned Crimson Fists army I finished earlier this month!
I know, the terrain is a bit inappropriate for the army. Let’s say it’s the well-groomed lawns of the New Rynn City suburbs. 😉
Here we got some detail shots:
Here we see a bunch of Crimson Fists Space Marines forming up for a Desperate Last Stand picture.
So that’s that for the Crimson Fists army commission so far. I really enjoyed painting and building them (most of the time at least). The look of these Marines is so iconic and striking, especially in Mk.5 armour. Anyhow, great army. I really like it.

I would love to own such an army! I have to agree that the last stand picture is awesome!. A great paint job on some lovely models.
@Snake88: Cheers. I really took care of making each of them posed interestingly and believable. You can see that in the Showcase articles on the single tactical squads mostly. Really fun army to build.
@Zab: Thanks. 🙂
@Marcin: THanks very much. I wrote a bit about my thoughts on the 25th anniversary Marine in the respective Showcase article. But yeah, makes you kind of nostalgic, doesn't it. And wouldn't it be great if 6th edition 40k would reintroduce stuff like motifiers, drop the AP system altogether, reintroduce overwatch and some other good things. Would make the game a whole deal more solid in my opinion. 😉
@Brinks Chaos Theory: Thank you. Midway through I got a bit annoyed with all the battle damage (which is rather time consuming ) so I switched to the Blood Bowl Wood Elves for a bit. After that it was much easier to get back to painting Crimson Fists. It's all in the variety…
Looks great! And good on you for sticking out and cranking out all that blue! I'm starting to burn out painting the same color scheme over and over… might have to switch armies for a while…
Cohesive application of weathering does make a difference – the entire army looks battle worn, with a great deal of character to every model. Besides, with that special edition Crimson Fist Captain… ah, it really brings back memories from the times of Wargear Cards and Virus Outbreaks.
Really great cohesive feel to it all. Love the battle hardened world weary warriors. Really pays respect to the fluff!

They look great all together. Each Marine looks like a completely different individual to the next. A very well done to you sir!
Cheers, fellas.
@Warflake: It'S a mix of pigments, airbrush and drybrush with some different shades of grey. Just the kinds of greys I used for painting the bases of course. 😉
@Eldorad: Hehe, thanks. It was more of a spur of the moment thing really when I saw the standard bearer standing behind the 25th anniversary Marine.
That last stand picture is awesome 🙂 Great nod to a classic.
Also – not noticed the Dread's banner before, great work!
How did you do the weathering on tanks? That's the colour I'm looking for!
