The Imperial Knight is a Super Heavy Walker. Despite the excellent coverage of this behemoth in White Dwarf, I really struggled with gauging how big the model is. As soon as I’d assembled enough of the model to get it’s height and width I grabbed some of my biggest models to take some size comparison pictures. More after the jump.

My local store has the Imperial Knight for $95.00
Thanks, Garfy. Love the silvery-blue of the GK scheme you did. Cheers for the tutorial!

Nice size comparison.
Got a link to a post with more pictures of that Contemptor in the background of the first pic?
Super glue mixed with talcum powder works great as a filler , dries fast as is easy to sand down as well . That's a big looking knight , expensive yes but you don't have to buy from GW do you . Plenty of places out there that discount .
Liking the retro centurion! Its nice to see brightness in the far flung future.
Is there a tutorial?
Good lord, I never realized how huge that Tesseract Vault was when watching your WIPs. No wonder it took so long (that and your insane self-imposed brush everything requirement- brave man).
You never see size comps like this, and it's really great to see. Really makes me want to go pick up a storm raven now.
I didn't know half of those space marine models existed that's how long I have been away from 40k lol
Looking really good thus far! What did you use to fill in the seams on the model's legs? Normal greenstuff or that liquid stuff?
Liquid greenstuff.
Have you tried using superglue? I picked up the trick from a buddy. Basically you fill the gap with superglue and let it dry for a little bit, then sand it down. You can't leave it to dry overnight, but maybe 20-30 minutes so that it is still semi-soft. Works like a charm. I've found liquid greenstuff just takes a lot of coats to work and even then it doesnt do the job so well. Maybe its the consistency I am using.
Really like the size comparison, the reivew made me go and buy one, my first GW kit that I have bought in 3 years.
Never knew that the centurions were so big.
Looking forward to seeing your finished version
That's a proper comparison! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the comparison.
Just sizewise, I'ld really say it's a rather expensive kit.
It looks great, but "value for quantity"-wise?
It has a lot of parts and the detailing blows the Storm Raven, Dreadknight and even the Tesseract vault out of the water.
And if that isn't enough, then compare it to Forge World Models. They tend to arrive all warped and bent, don't include any weapon options or variant builds and cost a lot more. When I bought my Scythed Hierodule it was around £85 at the time. The same price as the Imperial Knight is now and the knight is much bigger. It's upper torso and arms have incredible poseability and you get the options to decorate and arm it in different ways.
So in my opinion it's brilliant value for money. Especially when you consider I've been taking my time building it (5 hours and counting) and painting is going to take a couple of weeks as well. On top of all of that I can ally it to two of my armies which really helps justify it's cost.
Expensive is a personal thing. I respect your view it's expensive to you.
Thanks for your reply.
I do love these Knights and if you can ally a new model with more then one army it's of course even better.
I was just trying to find some system in the pricing – I know: a futile occupation 😉
So size doesn't really matter 🙂
