Who is old enough to remember this? Or perhaps you remember the same game of a different name called Advanced Space Crusade? I never had the opportunity to purchase this when I was in the hobby in the early 1990s, so when I saw this set on eBay I just had to have it. I can’t believe I won the complete set for under £30. More individual unit shots and some close up action shots after the jump.

Has this inspired you to rummage around your loft or garage and pull out your old models and slap some paint on them? Maybe your rushing to eBay to see if you can pick up a classic game yourself. Let me know in the comments below.

I really like the old heavy bolters
I love the old style Tyranids. I bet the game is a lot of fun as well. Good stuff on the painting.
Quality! I had that when I were a youn 'un. I remember I bought it in the GW sale and barely had enough for the bus home! £30 is a steal.
A classic game. Loved the Classic Plastic scouts at the time especially the metal ones you could get. Shuriken catapults and needle rifles ftw!
Cool set, Garfy! I wonder what they were thinking when they sculpted those scouts… puff sleeves and mohawks – wtf?
Inspiring and sweet and yeah, no idea how you got that for such a good price and in such good condition!!!! What did you think of the game? Does it actually have replay value or was it just an interesting trip down memory lane? I don't know how I never owned any of those games (or space hulk either!!) despite getting into the hobby just as those came out… I guess I was only really playing Warhammer Fantasy at that time and didn't get into Epic or 40K till a bit later..
very cool and sweet paint job (and funny looking mohawked scouts!! where are those in all the Golden Demon contests!!! lol!)
ditto to melonfish, I did a heroquest set a while ago. It's great fun to paint such a variety of miniatures and end up with a fab looking game..
See my blog for details..

Wow!
I would love to get my hands on an old boxed game like that and paint it up and play it.
Fantastic job.
I painted all the figures for Warhammer Quest a couple of years ago. Awesome project, really enjoyed it. Sold it fully painted for £800. Live to Win!
I just dropped a big amount of cash on a copy of Warhammer Quest! I am looking forward to painting the included models (the Chars are already "in the works) and then collecting enough miniatures to represent (almost) all the monsters you can encounter.
Tyranid Attack was a different game to Advanced Space Crusade. ASC was scouts vs Nids, and didn't have Terminators or stealers/cultists.
I think ASC wasn't particularly successful (it was almost impossible to play, although I was only 13 when it was released) so GW repackaged the contents with more interesting models and a simpler game system.
