Just as I start this new project I’m being forced to sideline it. My love hate relationship with my airbrush continues. I love the work I’ve done so far but I can’t carry on with the misting and highlighting stage because my compressor’s water trap / filter has packed up and I’m getting water in my airline. Basically as I airbrush it splutter and cough up water. I have a new water trap on order. I hope it arrives really quickly. Least it only cost £12. Now to find a small project to paint while I wait.

Is it the water trap on your compressor, or an inline one which has failed?
If its the compressor one cleaning the filter and checking the o-ring is generally all that can go wrong with them. As a stop gap you can try wrapping the water traps thread with PTFE tape and tightening it down, have a found a dodgy seal there to lead to water getting into the air line. Thats the reason i always run a secondary water trap at the end of the airline, in case it gets through from the main one, or condenses inside the air line.
What is the "misting" stage?
Im guessing laying down some colour gradients following the preshading.
What to say Garfy…shit happens…
P.S.
I'm here if you need a new name 😉
Thus why I love my brush! jk I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. This is probably why I stray away from airbrush though, for myself it sounds a bit pricey and I'd be so upset if things broke, at the same time I could never pump out the volumes of work you do heh. maybe someday!
