Howdy all, today I am wanted to show a Tau XV104 Riptide Battlesuit from a winter themed army I am working on.
The model was not put together by myself but by a customer who sent the model to me. The body of the model is taken from the Forge World Tau XV107 R’Varna Battlesuit and the arms and legs are from the regular GW Riptide. The builder also moved the weapons from the top thrusters to the left arm. I kind of like what he has done and makes the model look more unique. I used the same painting scheme as I did on the Sky Ray that I showed a few posts ago. On another note I have just ordered in some AK paints but as yet not used them. Has anyone else used AK paints and what did you think about them?

Hey guys, I have already made a tutorial which deals with how to paint this. The links below. The only differences are that once you have finished the tutorial that you matt varnish the model. Then spray 2 layers of grade 4 hairspray over the model. Waiting between each one to dry. Then spray several thin layers of Vallejo air white. Once that has dried pot some boiling water into a jar. Then get a old brush and with the hot water you can use it to remove the white paint. Once you are happy with how you want it to look spray another layer of matt varnish over the model to secure the work you have done. Hope that helps. http://taleofpainters.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/tutorial-how-to-paint-astra-militarum.html#more
I remember that one! Used it for inspiration recently, thanks. Grade 4 hairspray being extra strong hold?
Hey Allistair, just double checked and the one I used was grade 4 extra hold 🙂
Speechless
Small tutorial?
Please?
I love how the snow got in between the armour! Awesome work!
Damn, you really need to make a tutorial on this paint scheme 😀
