I painted another model for my Alpha Legion Kill Team, yay! This time it’s an Icon Bearer, and I also made a detailed tutorial for it. Find out more in this post.
Last year I painted a first test model for a Chaos Legionary Kill Team – a gunner with plasma gun. It took a while, but in November and December I painted a few more models, and this Icon Bearer was one of them. The model is a combination of one of the monopose models from the Start Collecting and an icon from the multipart Chaos Space Marines kit.

As you can see, I chose to paint my Alpha Legion in a Heresy-era style teal metallic armour. It’s a basecoat of The Army Painter Azure Magic washed with Drakenhof Nightshade, then drybrushed with Vallejo Model Air Steel and glazed with Aethermatic Blue. Also check out the purple cloth, I was using a Darren Latham tutorial for creating texture as reference.

Painting my Alpha Legion scheme
Painting the model was quite fun, especially the green eyes and icons. I used some of the new Contrast paints like Striking Scorpion Green and Karandras Green for the glow effect.

Over on my Patreon I created a detailed 18 page PDF tutorial for painting this model, so if you would like to support me, please consider heading over to Patreon and access this and a host of other exclusive tutorials. Thanks for your support, it helps me a lot to keep this site running and to produce new reviews and tutorials regularly 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the newest addition to my Chaos Legionary roster, and maybe this post inspired you to paint your own. Let me know here in the comments section or over on our helpful Discord server, leave a reaction, and stay tuned for more of my Alpha Legion.
