Hi everyone! I’m back again with another completed model from the Escape from Goblin Town set for The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game! This is Radagast the Brown. Radagast is my favourite character from the films, and I loved painting this beautiful model!
I’m having a lot of fun painting the models from the Escape from Goblin Town set again, and painting Radagast was great fun. I love this model, it’s a fantastic sculpt and I think really captures the spirit of Radagast.
I really tried to bring out the feeling of texture across the model, particularly on the different fabrics. This was done by using the highlight colour and ensuring there is not much paint on the brush, and also thinning the paint on the wet palette and drawing on thin, light lines to give a frayed look.
I originally painted this sculpt back in 2014 when I first started painting. I dug out the model I originally painted and took a photo against the new version. I think it’s great to repaint a model you’ve painted in the past, as it allows you to really see the progression in your painting. I was very happy back then with the model, but now I much prefer the newer version, and I’m really happy with how he looks. I’m excited to use him in a game!

Wow! Especially that comparison look makes our new version stand out! You did an amazing job on the clothing and the face in particular.
Thank you very much 🙂
I agree. The eyes and beard make the face, and the clothes are more defined too.
Thanks, glad to hear 🙂
