Another month has been and gone and that means another 4 issues of Conquest. After the jump I share my thoughts on this month, what I’m looking forward to in next month’s models and a huge group photo of everything painted so far.
How was it?
This was a good month. We got some Aggressors in Gravis armour, a Foul Blight Spawn and our first terrain. I usually get my subscription delivered on a Friday or Saturday but issues 11-14 turned up on a Monday. The reason being is Hachette Partworks was delayed because they had to post out an empty box for the plastic glue they shipped a few months previously. Clearly a legal arse covering so they don’t get sued by some goon who has eaten it. The reason I’m telling you this is I lost the Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. I couldn’t start assembling until Monday evening and that made it tricky for undercoating and base coating late at night. Long story short, the Aggressors over ran into the week I should have been painting the Foul Blightspawn and the Blightspawn over ran into the week I should have been painting the terrain. However, I bashed out all the terrain in a single weekend catching back up with myself giving me a spare week while I wait for the next models.
I’ll be interested to see how Hachette Partworks deals with the next delivery and the Christmas Holidays. I would rather it was early instead of late.
The project so far
As you can see above I’ve completed all 14 weeks and also some extra units including 2 Interceptors, a Redemptor, a Plague Champion, 2 Pox Walkers and a 2×2 Terrain Board. I’m not finding the painting a chore in the slightest. There is a lot of variety in the project so that is keeping things fresh and interesting.
What’s next?
Initially, I’m working on eight Pox Walkers from Dark Imperium while I wait for issues 15, 16, 17 and 18 to be delivered. I’ve also ordered a sprue of Reivers on eBay to fix the unit size of the Reivers (I believe we get six in total with Conquest, and I want a full squad of ten). When my next subscription order arrives I’ll have 2 Intercessors, an Inceptor, 2 Hellblasters, a Death Guard Biologis Putrifier and another round of Cargo Containers. Almost identical to this month’s models.
All in all, things are going great and I’m having a blast on this project.

I have to say I'm really enjoying this series, especially because I'm basically on this journey with you. I'm sticking to the painting tutorials in the issues, despite being a fairly experienced painter. Getting a lot of enjoymemt out of the back to basics feel.
Like you my last shipment was delayed, but possibly even more due to international shipping. Just painting the aggressors now. I went two weeks with nothing to paint! Hope that doesn't happen to regularly!
Do you think we'll make it all the way?
I'm only considering 4 issues at a time. I really don't want to scare myself off this project by contemplating 80 weeks of models.
That's a great looking set of models! Congrats on your results.
Really enjoying your builds. Wish I could get some of these in the US.
