In this post, I’m showing you the second half of my Warcry terrain collection. Alongside more Azyrite Ruins, I’ve also painted some scatter terrain pieces I’ve collected from various sources.
Here we have the bell tower from the original Warcry starter set. I’d previously painted this piece in a dark grey, but I’ve repainted the stone and some of the details to match the warmer grey of the rest of the ruins. I’ve also repainted the dungeon pit from Warcry: Catacombs.
This ruin piece is based on the configuration from the Warcry starter set to accommodate the included scenarios. I’ve added a ladder from the sprue of the wooden tower in Warcry: Red Harvest (see here), as well as other small scatter terrain pieces. The portcullis matches the ruins’ grates perfectly, and the raised coffin fits well into the dead city I have in mind. As you can see, I haven’t painted the original Warcry starter set contents exactly as they are; I’ve swapped out parts that looked too ‘chaotic’ to me, such as the wooden palisades.
The smaller ruined structure also matches the shape of the pre-designed scenarios. The large plank comes from the Red Harvest terrain, and is perfect for bridging the gap between two ruins.
How to paint Azyrite ruins
I’ve painted all the terrain pieces in a cohesive colour scheme of warm grey and wood, rusted metal, and green moss. It all came together very quickly; in this post, I shared a list of all the paints and techniques I used:
With this second batch of ruins, my Warcry/Age of Sigmar terrain project is now complete for the time being. I have enough terrain pieces to fill a Warcry game board with plenty of variety. It also opens up new possibilities for my cinematic photography, as you can see below:
I hope you’ve enjoyed following this project. I’ll be taking some more photos of the entire board over the next few weeks and sharing them. And of course, I need to get the terrain on the table for a game soon!
