The “Ultramadness” continues – after all, we hadn’t had new Ultramarines models for four whole months! But relief is at hand with Captain Titus and the Wardens of Ultramar. In this review & video unboxing we’re taking a very close look at the main protagonists of the 500 Worlds campaign, including high-res sprue images and all possible build options.
Captain Titus and the Wardens of Ultramar will be available for pre-order starting Saturday, 10 January 2026. The pre-order period lasts two weeks, with the official release date set for 24 October 2026. The RRP is £57 / 74 € / $94.
Captain Titus & the Wardens of Ultramar unboxed
Captain Titus and the Wardens of Ultramar contains 7 miniatures: the three Ultramarines on 40mm bases and the four Counsellors on 28mm bases. The frame consists of two medium-sized sprue segments. Additionally, there’s an assembly instruction booklet. There’s no transfer sheet included.
Here I go through all of the box contents, inc. a page-by-page flip-through the assembly guide:

The Titus sprue deep dive
Assembly of the seven models is straightforward, as they’re monopose monobuild models. The only “problem” is that Titus’s cape consists of three parts (parts 31 to 33) which results in very visible seam lines that should be filled. Silva’s cape also consists of two parts. Only two of the models have build options: for Metaurus you can choose between a bare head or helmet, and for the Astropath between a head with visor up or down. You can see more detail in the video above, where I go through the assembly instructions.

Patreon bonus content: Ultra high-res, uncompressed versions of these sprue images (and backsides of the sprues) can be downloaded here.
Each of the seven miniatures comes with a scenic base topper, which, matching the new Marneus Calgar in Terminator armour model (our review here), features fragments of Macraggian architecture.
Captain Titus, Metaurus, and Gadriel
The centrepiece of the kit is without a doubt Demetrius Titus, now freshly promoted Captain of the prestigious 2nd Company. His new fancy cloak with fur trim gives him an aura of prestige. However, I’m not a fan of the pose, which seems to lean a bit too much to the left. Additionally, you get Veteran Sergeant Metaurus, known from the Secret Level Warhammer 40,000 episode. The third member of the trio is Gadriel, one of the main protagonists from Space Marine 2, now promoted to Ancient of the 2nd Company, carrying a beautifully realised 3D sculpt of the iconic Ultramarines 2nd Company banner.

Titus’ four Counsellors
The four Wardens include Lucia Vestha, a plenipotentiary of Ultramar, a high-ranking diplomat who enjoys Titus’s full authority and power. Dainal Kornelius is the best and most fearless Astropath that Ultramar has to offer. Aemelia Minervas, a Legatus in the Ultramar Defence Auxilia and commander of the 30th Macragge Defence Auxilia, gives us a glimpse of what Ultramar’s armed forces might look like. And finally, we have Gaius Silva, veteran commodore of the Ultramar Defence Fleet.
All four Counsellors exude plenty of character and narrative elements, even though they look a bit lithe next to the three massive Ultramarines (which is certainly intended by the designers).

8.5 Score
Pros
- 7 character models in a box
- Featuring fan favourite characters like Titus, Gadriel, and Metaurus
- Scenic bases for all 7 miniatures
Cons
- No build options except for 2 alternate heads
- Pricey box considering you only get a 2-part sprue
Final Verdict
Captain Titus and the Wardens of Ultramar is probably an absolute must-have for Ultramarines collectors and Space Marine 2 fans. The box essentially contains seven character models in one, but is priced accordingly. Sure, seven individual special characters would be significantly more expensive, but you're still not getting more plastic in the kit than with an average 40k unit.

Cracking review, thank you for taking the time to share in such detail. I really want to get this set now!
