The main antagonists of the 500 Worlds campaign are the Necrons, and in this review we’re looking at the two new character models. We’re unboxing the C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer in a 4K video, which has received a breathtaking update in plastic, as well as the new special character Nekrosor Ammentar. High-res sprue images are included of course, so read on.

The new Nightbringer and Nekrosor Ammentar will be available for pre-order starting Saturday, 10 January 2026. The pre-order period lasts two weeks, with the official release date set for 24 October 2026.

The redesign of the Nightbringer C’tan Shard has been leaked some months ago. Now the model is finally here, and in tow it brings Nekrosor Ammentar, one of the dramatis personae in the 500 Worlds campaign book, which is being released simultaneously alongside Captain Titus and the Wardens of Ultramar (our review here).

Here I go through all of the box contents, inc. a page-by-page flip-through the assembly guides:

C’tan Shard of the Nighbringer reviewed

The new Nightbringer comes in a slim, portrait-format box. Inside you’ll find 1 large sprue, assembly instructions, and a 90mm base. The RRP is £82.50 / 105 € / $130, £2.50 more than the Void Dragon (our review here) at the time of writing.

The model has no build options. While the Void Dragon came with three alternate face sculpts, the Nightbringer is monopose monobuild without optional cosmetic parts or posing possibilities. What you see is what you get. And you get quite a lot: I think the model is extremely beautiful – for me, an early model of the year 2026 candidate. The flow and three-dimensionality of the new Nightbringer are simply brilliant, even better than the Void Dragon for me. As you can see in the video, assembly is puzzle-like. Despite the flowing forms, seam lines are largely well hidden. In the end you get a fragile but spectacular model that’s approximately 20cm to the highest point of the scythe.

Nekrosor Ammentar reviewed

Nekrosor Ammentar is a new Necrons character model. Even the Silent King isn’t aware of his exact origins, but the myth goes that Ammentar was the first to be afflicted by the Destroyer curse and is thus the genesis of this cult. The kit comes in a small slim box and contains 1 medium-sized and 1 small sprue segment, an 80mm base, and the instructions. The RRP is £38.50 / 50 € / $65.

Like the Nightbringer, Nekrosor Ammentar is also a monopose monobuild model with no further build options. An eye-catcher is the expansive scenic base, which depicts abandoned Imperial and Mechanicum structures and a collapsed wall with a window. This wall gives Ammentar height and more visual weight. Because he’s not much larger than a Canoptek Wraith if you discount the base. But not every model needs to be large just for the sake of being large. The total height is approximately 95mm.

Final Verdict

Two great-looking miniatures without question. With the Nightbringer especially, I'd be surprised if it doesn't make it into the top 10 miniatures of 2026. The prices are steep as always, particularly for the Nightbringer. The kit comprises only a single sprue, options have been omitted, yet GW is charging £2.50 more here than for the Void Dragon (which has meanwhile also been heavily increased in price and originally released at £68).
