Stahly
Stahly is the founder of Tale of Painters. He lives in Craftworld Hamburg, located in the north of Germany, where he walks the Path of the Graphic Designer. He transitioned from Lego to Games Workshop models at the tender age of 11 and didn't look back ever since. He is known for bold colour schemes and sharp edge highlights, which he paints with typical German perfectionism (one of the reason he is such a notoriously slow painter).
Skaven Warp Lightning Cannon Painting V
The crew is pretty much finished, I just need to paint the leather and highlight the metal. Once the crew is done, all the parts of the Warp Lightning Cannon are painted and that means I’ll be able to put the model together this weekend!
Skaven Warp Lightning Cannon Painting IV
I made progress on painting the crew models. As you might notice, I’m going to paint the two slaves on the right with more bare skin and only slight patches of fur to make them look more miserable and nude. I will do the same...
Skaven Warp Lightning Cannon Painting III
So yeah, despite the lack of posts I wasn’t idle – I finished the barrel which was quite a bit of work with its plenty pieces of warpstone and all the light effects but I’m quite pleased with the result. I also started laying down...
The Monthly White Dwarf Review: September 2011
To my surprise I found the latest WD issues in my post box today, two days before the official release date. Maybe GW realised that punishing their loyal subscribers by sending them their copies later then everyone else was a stupid idea?If this is true...
Skaven Warp Lightning Cannon Painting II
I’m currently visiting my parents as I took some days off work. Painting time was sparse so far, but I try to finish the chassis tomorrow.
Skaven Warp Lightning Cannon Painting I
This is the boring part: painting all the metal fittings. Nothing spectacular to see yet, but it will be coming together next week.
Converted Skaven Warp Lightning Cannon
During the week after next I have holiday which is the perfect occasion to tackle another big model in my Skaven army: the Warp Lightning Cannon. My Stormvermin will have to wait a little bit before I can get back to them. I did a...
Skaven Stormvermin Painting XIV
So yeah, this batch is done (apart from some static grass), so this means the first half (15 models) of the Stormvermin regiment is finished! For the banner, I added the mandatory clan rune and the triangle pattern, for the black ground I did a...
Games Day Skaven Warlord Unassembled Pictures
Thanks to Sandro from Spieleland Hamburg I got this year’s Games Day model, a quite nice Skaven Warlord. I thought it might be a good idea to take some pictures of this model unassembled, so fellow Skaven lovers will know what to expect. Sadly the...
Skaven Stormvermin Painting XIII
These are almost done, except for some minor painting here and there and of course, the freehand for the banner. This will be pretty tough, as the flag is very distorted. I’m going to do a design with a white clan symbol on a black...
