I’m a big fan of large tactical squads – and most of my armies feature at least 2 full squads if not more. It just appeals to me. I don’t mind a few specialists in a marine army, but unless I’m playing Eldar (when I play at all) I prefer the rank and file approach, sporting bolters where possible!
This is the second of 3 ten man units, the third will follow in a few days. Also on the table is a completed Dev Squad and a small Assault unit. What should come next – Vehicles or a contemptor dreadnought?! This army is for sale

What helmets did you use for them?
They look to be the Steam Knight heads from Maxmini. The bare head was taken from the Death company set.
great paint job awesome models. Is it still for sale? so yes where can i buy it.
Love the squad. Nice seeing a new take on things. The squad leader is a particular favorite or mine (shield and weapons look fantastic). The helmets also add a lot to the feeling of the squad… nice touch.
I have to agree, I've never been fully happy with that finish myself. I'll read that tute at some point, but my intention is to revisit the face. Too much dark blue, and too thickly applied are the lessons learnt. I love that I'm still learning to be better! Thanks for taking time to comment.
Very nice. I agree, though, that the eye glow looks too "maskish". You can minimize that effect by breaking up the uniformity, especially along the bridge of the nose. The light from his eyes wouldn't be able to strike those areas directly so the light wouldn't have the same intensity. As such more flesh color would be showing through. On the positive side I adore the clean whites you have managed on the shoulder pads and for the chapter symbol. The contrast with the brooding red you've used is striking. Great job!
I think the glow works quite well. Knowing that the unit is a thousand sons one I think you automatically make the connection of what this represents. Additionally, it works really well off of the base!
Great work here, love the overall effect. The eyes on the leader need some work. Currently the glow effect looks more like a warpaint over his eyes. Plus instead of glowing, they appear darker than his skin. I would go back over this, as it is a really crucial part of this unit, and gits in with the fluff and overall story here. This tutorial really helped me, even though I am not the expert.
Overall these two squads are spectacular, however, I have to admit that the Sergent in this one has a very "Batman and Robin" look to his face. You can't quite tell in the picture, but is that a mask or glowing eyes?
Otherwise, great work. keep 'em coming!
