I converted these toys (Plasma Catcher Eggs) into Tyranid Mycetic Spores around a year or so ago. They were really quick to make using Milliput modelling clay to make some carapace claws, ripper tentacles and some kind of flesh venting. One more pic after the jump.
These are quite basic models. They are just fill in models until the GW model is released. If you guys are interested in a more detailed tutorial guide on how to make these let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do.

Can't seem to find any at all 🙁
Check out Ebay. They are a toy called plasma hatchers.
I must know, where do you get these from?
I scrubbed mine in soapy water, just like I would to clean up a FW model. Once completed I varnished the model.
If I was to offer another suggestion then I would recommend painting a layer of watered down PVA glue all over the model before undercoating.
Hi Garfy – really like how these turned out! I had the same issue with getting paint to stick to the plasma catchers so any commentary or tips would be great.
A tutorial for these would make my day, please share your hobby wisdom!
I tried to use one of these in the past but really struggled with getting the paint to stick to the plastic they used in their molds. Did you have to treat the toy in anyway in order to get primer and paint to stick?
