This Finecast mini is a reinforcement for an existing commission and has been coloured to match. The cast was hit and miss. The main body was nearly perfect, but the staff was pretty bad and some of the runes have suffered as a result. A lot of green stuff was required building this mini.
I ended up with two large areas of black on the model which I felt needed to differentiate between the two. I used soft grey tones to highlight the pelt, but mixed some gloss into the shades on the raven to give it a sharp, hard look. I think it makes enough difference to the two areas don’t merge into each other.
Used green runes as colour theory prefers green with purple to the warm reds used by ‘Eavy metal. More pics if you care to click…

Nice work!
I really like the result on the wolf fur…. How did you go about highlighting it?
Nice rendition of Nigel that m8. i hate snow bases myself heh
i like how the blue still shows through the grey of the armour. over time i think space wolves have been getting greyer and losing that old lovely blue hue to their armour.
I can see the imperfections on the staff. I continue my boycott of finecast.
Great painting though. Interesting that the inner skin of the pelt is blue-grey.
Won't you publish painting tutorials anymore? They're the main reason I visit this blog and it's been about a month since the last one.
There will be more soon!
It was 3 weeks since the last one, not a month 😉
Looks great! What do you use for the snow effect on the base?
