I’m having an absolute blast painting my Black Legion again. I’m super motivated to paint after completing the 2nd edition project recently . It would seem that painting those classic, same pose models has reminded me just how incredible the latest Citadel Miniatures are. The Heldrake is no exception, even without it’s wings it looks brutal. I’m using it in a game later today, I’ll post a picture or two to the Tale of Painters’ Facebook page if you’re interested. If you’ve read the FAQ recently you would already be aware that the Heldrakes ranged weapon is now limited to 45º front arc instead of 360º. Is this a problem for you? Are you pleased of the change?

Obviously The rest of the model is primed black. Did you go back and under paint a white primer for that yellow?
That Yellow is just stunning. Makes the model pop so much it's impressive. Care to share the techniques/colors used?

Thanks a lot. Massive help 🙂
This is looking incredible, those wing panels look great already. Love the stark yellow, never seen anything quite like that on a drake before.
You might be finally selling me on this mini…
The bright yellow is an interesting spin on the model, let's see how it will look like on the final model 🙂
It's looking great. I'm really liking that yellow/gold and the touch of gray on the black insets looks awesome. I may have to borrow that technique for black.
THat change doesn't worry me that much, it just forces you to be more clever, a shame you can't shoot stuff in the back that you flew over as the imagery of doing that always made me smile.
