So, next up are a squad of Tartaros Terminators for my Blood Angels. They should look really great alongside my Contemptor Dreadnought, with whom they share several design cues. I added quite a few bitz to “40k-ify” them, as you can see. They are intended to be used in regular 40k, hence the cyclone missile launcher.
Assembling these models was a pain. Quite a lot of bubbles to fill in delicate places. I should have checked them more thoroughly when I bought them. Also I found the two-part construction of those shoulder guards really weird. Sometimes I think FW models are needlessly complicated for what you can actually achieve with flexible silicone moulds.
What do you think?

I gave up on fw infantry figures a while back. Dont get me wrong, I love their tankz and conversion pieces like the chapter specific rhino doors but I just found that the infantry pieces were as you say needlessly complicated molds and excessive bubbles/filling required. I have the boc set so will use the termies from that for my BA. Incidentally for an earlier poster I use the astrogranite mix for basing. Apply it. When dry wash in nuln oil. When dry drybrush longbeard grey then paint the edge in calthan brown…you can substitute in mournfang brown for edging the base.
Cool! Another nice customization, i like the mixing!
You have bought the regular Tartaros kit right? Not the Legion version? I've found a real difference in casting and resin quality between this series. I've had the same issue with regular MKIV kit and legion MKIV kit. The last one was way better.
how different is the detail quality?
Can you please tell me what colours you used on your bases? Having trouble with my own, so every inspiration helps. 😉
Hi Arthur, check out my BA tutorial here: http://taleofpainters.blogspot.de/2014/02/tutorial-how-to-paint-blood-angels.html
It's a basecoat of Mechanicum Standard Grey, heavy drybrush with Longbeard Grey, then a wash with a 1:1 mix of Army Painter Dark and Strong Tone Ink (Badab Black and Devlan Mud, or Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade). The rubble pieces are basecoated with Eshin Grey, washed with Dark Tone Ink (Nuln Oil) and then drybrushed with Eshin Grey, Mechanicum Standard Grey and finally slightly with Administratum Grey. Cheers.
Thank you very much
