Hey guys, today I thought I’d show the beginning of a Pre-Heresy Alpha Legion army I am working on.
It’s an interesting army when it comes to colour schemes as you have so many options available through metallic blue/greens, dark blue, turquoise, in fact most all blue tones you can think off.
Initially I was planning to copy Forge World metallic blue paint scheme, but then had a look over on CMON and saw a scheme similar to what I have done. I prefer the matt palette as it allows weathering techniques to be used, whereas a shiny metallic surface would prove more difficult.
For this model I used a hairspray technique where as paint is scratched of to reveal paint underneath the overcoats. I also made use of Forge Worlds Alpha Legion transfers. In my next few posts I will show more of what I have been working on.
I also have added a couple of quick photo’s below of Sicaran Battle Tank, but will post some more photos later on.
Dont feed troll
I never said 30k Space Wolves. I said Space Wolves. As in Space Wolves, you know those Space Wolves right, those blue grey Space Wolves? You know those Space Wolves that ride in blue grey rhinos?
Not sure if they can have sicaran tanks in the 40k era but blue grey space marines in blue grey tanks much like the paint US blue grey = Space Wolves. Not 30k Space Wolves tho the 40k ones, you know those blue grey ones?
Yeah, dude, got it, you said Space Wolves. And then you said it again about 8 times.
I just don't think the baby blues are gonna travel back 10k years though and get confused with pre-heresy Alpha Legion on the gaming table, that's all I'm saying. In context of 30k, these seem pretty decent alpha legion. Besides, it's Alpha Legion. They could be anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Even Space Wolves.
Hari Bray, Shut up, unless you know what you are talking about. Your comment just sounds stupid. Give it a rest.
Cheers guys. I have been trying to find the text by Dan Abnett in how he described Alpha Legion in the novel Legion. Anyone help :)?
"The armour was purple, trimmed in silver, with green markings on the immense shoulder plates" (near the end of chapter 2). This was set what…2 years before the heresy started?
Excellent work! I love this pale blue grey paint scheme and the weathering looks perfect.
I also love the emulation of the original rhino. Is this dozer blade in the deimos pattern kit?
I think if the Alpha legion markings weren't there 100% Space Wolves.
Alpha Legion are always some variation of a strong blue/green.
Except that 30k wolves were grey, so this works out pretty well.
Love the Sicaran. Can you please tell me which paints you used?
Cheers. Those colours are GW Stegadon Scale, Vallejo air US Intermediate blu and Vallejo air US Blue grey. I also sprayed Vallejo white from very high up downwards to create contrast to the blue and added Vallejo game colour green/black ink upwards. Hope that helps.
Aww these are very nice. Well done and love the color you have chosen. Jim D
The more I look at them, the more I like them. Takes a tough ass bastard to go in to battle wearing baby blue!
Lovely work and a great hue of blue.
Hey cheers Siph. It did take some trials and error to get what I liked on this one.
