I always do this… make great strides on a project and then ditch it to finish a previous project I ditched. I’ve put my Deathwatch to one side to finish my Assinssorium Execution Force boxset. Check out the crisp freehand of the Black Legion icons in the close ups after the jump.
With just 15 Cultists left to paint I thought I’d try to finish this box set completely. Will I make it? Or will I be distracted by something else? I also need to follow up on Part 1 of my introduction to airbrushing. Hoping to have that liver on youtube early next week.

So I know you have said that you paint these, but don't play 40K. Do you play the boxed sets? I know you have done many of them and they seem pretty self contained. Just wondered.
Those icons are fantastic. Never managed that accuracy myself. How do you do it?
My tips are:
1. Brace your hands on your desk so they're solid and accurate.
2. Use a sharp pointy brush and paint with the tip. You should be able to outline the shapes and then fill in the middle.
3. Thin your paints so they flow from the bristles really easily. As soon as you have to "drag" the paint off the brush you lose control.
4. Take your time and don't worry if you mess up in a couple of places you can tidy up later.
Thanks. Will have to try.
What do you thin the paint with for this work? Plain water, or X20A?
Lahmian Medium for glazing. Usually for freehand it's just water.
