Update on my Devastator Squad. The three all new models in the back are complete. The two models in the front are older paint jobs which I’m refining. I almost completely removed the highlights all over and replaced them with finer, more controlled ones. The Sergeant used to have a Chainsword and Bolt Pistol but got a new Storm Bolter and a pointing hand, which makes more sense with 8th Edition’s Signum rules. The work on both models is about 90% complete, and as you can see, they don’t need to hide from the newer paint jobs in the second row. What do you think?

Stahly is the founder of Tale of Painters. He lives in Craftworld Hamburg, located in the north of Germany, where he walks the Path of the Graphic Designer. He transitioned from Lego to Games Workshop models at the tender age of 11 and didn't look back ever since. He is known for bold colour schemes and sharp edge highlights, which he paints with typical German perfectionism (one of the reason he is such a notoriously slow painter).
I would have made barrel holes on storm bolter, still excellent paint job, just a minor fix 🙂
Really like the paint job on these
Only question I have is more Squad composition, as I have not seen the new Space Marine index. Why only one heavy weapon?
No worries, there'll be more heavy weapons. That's just the five models I've painted/reworked so far. Check out the complete squad here: http://taleofpainters.blogspot.de/2017/06/wip-ultramarines-devastator-squad-1.html
I'm Enjoying watching you working through these.
