Hey everyone, Spaceshrimp here with my second Underworlds war band post for Tale of Tuesdays. And a stray dog has joined!
Grawl is an interesting animal sculpt. Off the face of it, it just looks like a dog. But on closer inspection, especially when scrutinising the face, I realised he has quite feline features. The head is more panther-like with the rounded ears and short snout. One thing I just completely didn’t realise until coming to paint it was… Grawl has no eyes??? I am sure most of you knew this and it is verified in some of his very creepy card artwork and in the warbands lore but it completely came as a surprise to me! It is really sinister, and I love it and hate it in equal measures, which is a good hallmark of a Chaos model in my opinion.
As you may have realised, I didn’t manage to finish the warband this month. But I have made ok progress Grundann. One thing I have taken to doing since the introduction of contrast is blocking in my colours with contrast, and then going over them with layer paints. I don’t really exclusively have one method of painting. It depends on the model and the outcome I have in mind. But I find blocking in with contrast to be a really quick way to lay down an initial layer of pigment for layer paints to grip onto.
Make sure to check back next Tuesday to see Arcane’s warband. Don’t forget if you want to paint along with us, use the following hashtags on social media platforms – (twitter, Instagram or facebook).
